Being single and free to abuse kitchen appliances, I decided to risk my $14 48 knot by using steam to remove knot&cup from handle. I double wrapped the bristles in foil to protect them and cooked for maybe 12 minutes after which time the handle came right out with no effort and the bristles look fine. I used more traditional bashing and shearing to remove the brush from the cup with just a few hairs lost. [IMG]

I like it. It is soft with good backbone, and it has great looks, too.

Just wondering from the folks who used the Tuxedo (24/25mm) knot in the B400 - what loft setting did you use?

I set my Tuxedo at 56mm, and a Whipped Dog High Mountain badger at 54mm.

Good job, Tom. I have used coins, washers, and wood as spacers.

Took a little alteration, but I got a new Omega #10098 knot in my third B-400 ferrule.

The Donor - a brand new Marvy box full of fresh boar bristle.
    Image1.gif
Before decapitation, with a Whipped Dog High Mountain badger & an APShaveCo Tuxedo.
    Image 2.gif
The Omega handle is two plastic pieces pressed together. Easy to pop apart bare handed. The B-400 & Omega lower sections are close in size.
    Image3.gif
Removing the Omega ferrule by a tap on the metal trim ring & nipping the plastic ferrule with bolt cutters. Some light chisel action frees the knot.
Measuring the glue plug, I used a small belt sander mounted to a bench to reduce the flared base.
    Image 4.gif
Painters blue masking tape covered the top of the handle, teflon tape to keep the threads clear of glue. I dropped a coin (U.S. 25¢ piece) in to hold the knot just off the handle. A cardboard tube formed to keep the knot safe from stray glue.
    Image 5.gif
GE brand 100% Silicone applied into the ferrule, the knot pressed in. There was a slight compression of the bristles because the glue plug is set as deep as it would fit.
    Image 6.gif
    Final dimensions; 27mm X 65mm loft.

    (Thank you Tom @twhite!)

You will really like that once the bristles break in some. My favorite setup right there.

    Enjoy.

I do enjoy my current Omega 98. By pressing the knot deep into the ferrule I'm hoping for lots of scritchy break-in fun!
I was holding out for a NOS style Flat Top Fan knot, but this is pretty close.

Wow, did you step in it all at once or been collecting for a while? Some of the original knots look usable!
