I miss it as well. Our local paper just gets smaller and smaller. I enjoy a cup of coffee and a newspaper. Tablets are for wet shaving forums
I gave up on The New York Times when they couldn't guarantee delivery to my house by 5:00am. That was over 10 years ago. I was heartbroken and had to settle for the New Jersey Star Ledger. Yikes! I was happy once smartphones came around and gave me choices. I've made the break from paper as there are way more choices for news, but I do miss paper! Now I look at it this way... the NY Times publishes mostly fiction now, so good riddance! As Bob Dylan said, "the times they are a changin'".
Right on. The last time I remember reading the RMN was at Breakfast King. Perfect size for counter reading.
Love the tabloid format too. And I still buy one(NY Post) every morning on the way to work. A tablet or cell just doesn't feel compatible with a cup of coffee and biscotti.
Breakfast King, corner of Mississippi and Santa Fe. Denver's late night breakfast destination! It's still there, but remodeled a bit, outside is unchanged.
Yes. I couldn't agree more. The Net has it's place - well look at me. But going to the ole breakfast diner with a (tablet) under my arm just ain't gonna happen. I'm afraid were not with the times my friend. Dinosaurs we are I guess. Just call me Dino.
Newspapers are Controlled Mostly by the Social Elite without Getting into Naming Them..The Tabloids are Just Well..Just that..Comic Strips.. Billy..
I'm hearing buzz words from the video news world about "fake news". They seem shocked that an event could, would, or should be staged or reported with less than truthfulness. Tin foil hat time weather you use it to block incoming signals, or to increase the bandwidth for better range & reception. Without giving credit because it might seem political I'll drop a quote. “The epidemic of malicious fake news and false propaganda that flooded social media over the past year – it’s now clear that so-called fake news can have real world consequences,” We don't need false propaganda. There's plenty of the regular kind already around now. Since the invention of language people have told stories filled with embellishments, exaggerations, and down right lies.
I'm one of those who still likes to read a paper too. I still get the NYT delivered and for my other daily paper the WSJ I just switched to the app-only version and cancelled delivery. I moved recently and I had to drop the papers while I was in temp housing, and I found that I enjoyed the app-version of WSJ just as much as the paper, and it's a little cheaper so I dropped delivery. The NYT just raised prices to $20/week and that seems a little crazy in this day & age to spend that much, so I may end up dropping that too one of these days.
