The Haul - September 2016

Let me bring in the first haul of September:



An Ontario Cutlery Company straight. Box it was sent in says Wyeth Sublime. So looks like its mismatched. The razor seems to be in pretty good shape though

 

Came in the mail today. Almost full and still smells good.

 

Two, Straights from Japan.
Yaichi- Frameback cream scles
Hanatonbo- black scales.

They will be getting restored, soon.

 

Finally found the elusive Red Tip Rocket.

Got me a new yard razor.

 

I like it!

 

If you don't mind me asking.. Where and how much? I may be looking for a new one myself .

 

Nice. I really like the fact that it's not self-propelled.

Lowe's. It's the TB110, listed for $199 + tax. Being retired AF I get a 10% Military Discount. Total for me was $193 after tax.

Hey, you military guys - you don't get the discount if you don't ask. Lowe's and Home Depot have it but they don't advertise it.

Retired Navy here... We have a couple checkers here that are actively asking if customers are military. Otherwise I definitely mention it. Especially on bigger(more than $10) purchases. Like my new $450+tax dishwasher, $438 out the door.

I finally stopped by Wet Shaving Products today. Lee, the owner, was very pleasant to deal with, he even gave me a tour of the facility. I got to see where all the products were made. I picked up some Blackbeard aftershave which he custom blended with menthol. Here's the scent description from their site:

Blackbeard - Bringing you back to the Golden Age of Piracy and the Pirate's code Blackbeard epitomized. Now, while we certainly don't condone piracy, smelling like a pirate has never smelled this good! To create Blackbeard, we started with tobacco, then added some cherry, vanilla, patchouli, cloves, and other spices.

I've been contemplating a tobacco scent for a while now and this one is fantastic. Reminds me of my grandfather's cherry pipe tobacco. Lee also threw in a sample of the Blackbeard shave soap, a bar of Barbershop bath soap and some lip balm. If their products match their service I'm going to be a regular.

 

That's awesome! I've had a couple WSP soaps, and still have some of my samples left, and they are a good product.

Yes it was. I've now seen behind the scenes at WSP and Razor Emporium.

 

Received two things in the mail;

1) Ten Kai disposable metal razors w/ a SE carbon blade
I think it cost me about $5-6 in total for the ten razors




2) Rocnel SE50. Polished finish
High polished and seemingly flawlessly finished.




Here next to another SE50 but in sandblasted/satin finish:

T&S Classic A/S
Wholly Kaw Washingtons Blend
Gustafsons Bayou Blue
Gillette Green blades

 

That should gone up nicely.
