Lots and lots of De Vergulde Hand soap over there. It's an awesome product and it sells cheap. You can also find Palmolive Classic cream and the sticks just about everywhere.
Post an inquiry on www.shavingsociety.nl and see what happens (they like it when you introduce yourself first briefly ) Not in Amsterdam, but there is a great little shop in Breukelen (Paul Kox).
Mog ik met je meegaan? (May I go with you?) Otherwise, de vergulde hand is all that I know about in terms of something Dutch-made. It is a praise-worthy soap, but unfortunately no longer in my den because I developed a reaction to it. When you are there, you must have stroopwafels with your coffee. You will not regret it.
Yeah, if it wasn't crowded with all those tourists! Actually I like Utrecht better; if you get a chance to visit, you should. It is smaller than Amsterdam, and much older. Despite the train station area being rebuilt "forever", the city center is very attractive.
Don't know of any store where you can buy, but do get a tin of Scheermonnik Delfts Wit sent over to your hotel... It is a handmade, real good shaving soap!
I was one of those tourists. Next time I will definitely ask for some recommendations, I'll put Utrecht on the list.
By the way, Breukelen (Brooklyn was named after it) is a nice little city that is easily reached by train. Paul Kox's barber shop is really worth visiting. However, since it is a one man shop, best to give him a call first. There are more shaving shops, but they are further away from Amsterdam. http://www.winkelplein.nl/barbershopsuply/
I went to a local store.... Vergulden Hand. 1.79 Euros a pop. Bought 6. Just could not help myself. Used with my travel shavette today and it is a brilliant soap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In case it's of interest, the lid says: Shavesoap. Also for sensitive skin. I really liked this soap, but unfortunately I developed a reaction to it. I guess mijn huid is heel erg gevoelig. Now, of equal importance, did you have stroopwafels ?
OK Dudes - time to share the joy. The first two posters that put their names HERE below on this thread - I will mail you a De Vergulde Hand soap Free Of Charge. It won't be quick as I travel a lot but I will do it. No fancy packing - padded envelope OK.
