I just finished Across the River and Into the Trees by Ernest Hemmingway. He's my favourite author. I bought Medicine Walk recently but have not started reading it yet.
I'm studying the book with a small group from my church. We're only partway through, but I like what I've read so far. We haven't gotten to the "nuts and bolts" part yet. Sad to say, none of us are under 40. My wife and I are the only ones in the group under 60.
An insightful, provocative read from an author who is fast becoming one of my favorites in the realm of world war histories. Culturally-sensitive and extremely thorough in his approach in how the author shares eyewitness accounts and a historical perspective from both sides of the struggle in the latter stages of World War II. Fascinating, disturbing, yet never judgmental nor apologetic.
Just started reading this. Not very original I know as it sold over 1,000,000 copies in one month in Japan and seems to beat that record a few times now that it's finally translated to English.
