I was recently going over my Grandfathers BB and noticed the numbers needed some touching up. I decided to go to the local Craft store and pick up a Sharpie Oil Based Fine Tip Paint Marker and must say it worked rather well. So if you ever pick up a Gillette adjustable give this stuff a shot. I was even able to use it to touch up some small spots on the handle. http://www.sharpie.com/enus/pages/oil-based-paint-marker.aspx
Yes, I spray all of my razors with isopropyl alcohol. One of my adjustables had the numbers touched up by the previous owner with something that came off after a spray. It stills has what I think is the original paint, but it is dull and faded. I plan on trying the acrylic paint idea on the numbers of my Black Beauty. The members on my slim and FB are fine.
Alcohol will most definitely remove permanent marker, however I am unsure but I also highly doubt that it would affect paint.
I use Testor's modeling paint and a very fine brush. Just dab the paint on the number/dot and wait just a few seconds. Then place your finger/thumb on the number and wipe sideways. Almost always removes everything but the paint in the grooves. Of course, now your finger is black...
Don't thank me. Thank Chris Evatt at Razor Plate, it was his method. I've done it a couple times and it worked just fine (except the thumb part) LOL. Good luck.
Ok! It worked great. I used the Herm/Evatt method with Model Master black enamel. I left one number "5" as is since it did not need any, and as a test I showed it to my bride who could not tell which one I did not paint. Thanks for the help! Winner! Here is the before After
