What's the comb for?

If this is somewhere else in the forums, let me know as its a total newbie question:

On some safety razors there's a comb on one side. What's the comb for? Is it for trimming a beard of mustache? Does it help with blade angle or razor burn?

I'm 100% certain you will love the comb. I wish I had tried it sooner. Now all of my razors are combs minus an injector.

 

Although I have a Future, Mergress and a few others, my open combs are definitely my favorite. But I too came late to the dance.
