In my mind that's a London Cabbie Cap. Never been, but I watch a bit of BBC. As I loose more on top I tend to wear a cap to keep the sunburn away. Will you be infront of stage lights? EDIT; I was thinking right -> Here.
The Fender I have is new, and is going through a settling process with the neck. I was bowing toward the strings, but two little turns on the truss rod and it's gravy again. I raised the action on A and D just a bit, I played anchored to the front pickup, but like the way the higher action feels, and it sounds cleaner through the bridge pickup this way. It's gonna need a string change soonish, and I may just take your advice and lighten up the gauge a bit. What would you put on a J-Bass playing 60s-80s sounding guitar rock?
Without any doubt in my mind I would wholeheartedly recommend D'Addario strings nickel round 040-100.http://www.juststrings.com/dad-exl190.html .This isn't the lightest gauge, 035-095 is, but that's kinda like playing guitar with 008's. I've tried many, many brands of strings and I just keep coming back to D'Addario, just reliable in every way. Very happy to hear that you are enjoying the bass!
I am quickly finding out that bass is easier than guitar, but good bass is harder than good guitar. I don't know about that one...
