Thank you Gentlemen. I have both products in house. I've seen specialized pipe polish, but figured someone had already tested others.
Nice Lovat style! I'm particularly fond of pipes in the Canadian family. I bought a can of pipe polish years ago. What Chris suggested is as good as any. On the other hand, the can I purchased has lasted a long time, so I guess it wasn't a bad deal. The instructions on the "pipe" polish are exactly what you mentioned earlier, spray on cloth, let it dry out a bit, then polish!
I just started to use Decatur No Buff Wax, works well for me. 90% of my pipes are smooth. Will keep the other suggestions in mind as well.
PS #312 Toasted Burley is peppery, where the Solani 656 is smooth and nutty. I like the smooth, but prefer the fuller flavor and spice of the Stokkebye. Tapatalk Via Kyocera
I had a little Engine 99 left that I mixed with a bit of Prince Albert. Makes a good smoke. I tried it in my country gentleman for a walk last night!
Most "serious" smokers and pipe collectors use pure carnauba wax to polish their pipes and protect the finish (yes, car wax). Granted, they use wheels to do the buffing, and get a shine "you could shave in." Halcyon II or III is used on rusticated or sandblasted pipes. You don't want to use Carnauba wax on those, as it's a pain to get out of the crevices. Edit: that's what the pro's use. I've had good luck with Howard's feed'n'wax.
I barely moisten a cotton ball with mineral oil, very lightly apply, and buff with a microfiber cloth. It gives a nice shine, leaves no residue or odor, and seems to last quite awhile.
I pulled out a Legend from the grab bag of cobs I bought some time ago. I decided to dedicate it to Chatham Manor until the tub runs out.
PS Navy Flake in the Schowa Selected, after a front end disc brake job on neighbors son's 'Burban. Finished and tools picked up before the rain started. Tapatalk Via Kyocera
Cheers Friends, i think i will have this here later: Peter Rasmussen Green Label in my Savinelli 311 Dolomiti Rustic. I bought the Tobacco from a Friend today and i´m really curious about it. Smells very nice so far. Greetings Thorsten
PS Toasted Burley in the vintage French bent billiard briar by Chacom, just before it started raining. Or as we call it here on the South Coast - high humidity.
Live from the UK Stopped into a 147 year old shop at Jubilee Market, picked up this handmade Canadian and an ounce of their finest blonde VA. Smoking an English pipe on the streets of Westminster is officially off the bucket list.
