I tried hot water again today only for building the lather, yesterday I sort of used a scuttle, I used cold water for the rest of my shave. Incredible amount of lather again. It could just be this soap as its still new and maybe my first day using cold water I didn't load enough. Tomorrow I'm using only cold water for everything to test my theory. If it doesn't lather as well I'll be using hot water only for bowl lathering. The rest of my shave I love using cold water and will continue to do so.
