Nice brush! Is that a current production?

ymmv, of course...but I've never had trouble with soap performance if the soap is in puck form. If so, I just pick it up, rub it on my wet face until all the whiskers have ample coverage and then face lather with any good size brush. It has worked very well with MWF allowing it to create all the great attributes of a fine soap.

    Just my two cents.

Welcome aboard!! Yes, a Rule will definitely improve things for the long term! Staying with one setup will get your technique whipped into shape and then you're ready to explore more. Great to have you along for the ride and don't be shy about asking questions and letting us know how it's going!

    Jolly Good June!

    June 4

    Razor - CJB Greager
    Blade - [IMG] (5)
    Soap - Proraso Green Tub
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
Post - Cold rinse, Alum, The Veg

Day four on the Greager and I'm feeling confident. It was a bit of an early start so I could get a few things caught up at work due to my internet being down for most of the past three days. With a big Saturday on tap I needed to clear the desk. Hurried a bit and didn't get quite the finish I've been getting. It's been DFS to near BBS until today but I'd say today was a barely DFS. Just didn't take time working a few areas, but tomorrow I should be back on track. The best news was that, even though I rushed, I didn't draw blood. I'd like to take credit for that by saying my technique on the pain stick is impeccable. It's probably due as much to the nature of the Dorco AC blade. Smooth and not overly sharp. Great results, less risk it seems. I may switch blades with the Feather SS when I go to it and see if I'm as confident and happy as I am when I go back to the Feather Pro.

Good news for all of you who are helping rid the world of Sharp Star blades. Mine arrived today so the ship time was 15 days from order to delivery. Didn't send registered so it just showed up in my mailbox. And...there was an extra gift included. A tuck of Ladas. I like this guy. Will keep in in the Cartel for sure. Hope your Saturday was great and the rest of the weekend even better. Seems a bit slow around here so I'm assuming everyone is out having a great time!

Pre: warm bath, Nivea face wash, warm water rinse
    Razor: Gillette Fat Boy
    Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock super stainless (3)
Brush: TGN Finest in Olivewood handle
    Soap: Haslinger Sandalwood
Post: Cold water rinse, Maggard Alum, Witch Hazel, Nivea sensitive after shave balm

Got almost another BBS shave tonight I just missed about 2 small spots on the clean up to be truly BBS. I'm really happy with this setup of the Gillette Fat Bot and the Gillette 7 O'clock blade running on setting 2 on the razor. I might try and use this blade another day or two to see how it works, would be nice to get about 5 days out of this blade. I was riding the cap on all passes, first pass was really good, got great reduction WTG. The second pass saw even more good reduction XTG and was really feeling almost smooth at that point. Third pass was ATG and man was I almost BBS so I went for a clean up pass and I thought I had it but when I finally put on my AFB I could feel 2 little spots that I missed. I guess I could have gone back and got it but they were so small and I was happy with the shave so I decided jut to leave it and try again tomorrow. I really learned a lot last month and am carrying on this month till my straight razor gets here which should be soon. After I give this blade one more day I think I'm going to try another good Russian blade, a Sharp Star and see how that performs.

Learning to not chase the baby - good for you. The perfect shaves will come. Getting your technique dialed in ( I enjoy my FatBoy, too), Pre & Post care figured out. When you start using your straight, those DE skills will pay off.
Straight razor takes most folks about 100 shaves to reach about where you are with the DE now. You can keep your FatBoy near to do clean up while developing the Straight routine.
Makes for cool SOTD photos when you got them both there.

    Focus shave on holiday

Decided to give the CJB another round hoping the blade mellowed and that what ever was wrong with the last shave I could fix.

At least the cigar was perfect. Another cut, nick and some more weepers. I don't know why the shave gods have abondoned me. One well enjoyed the morning cigar at least.

After to terrible pain stick shaves I went with a 'milder' shavette, a Focus Slim.

Loaded it with half a feather, big mistake... At least there was less blood than with the CJB. I'm going to stick with the cigars and DE until I'm back home.

Looks like a nice place. You may need to sacrifice a puck of Williams to the shaving gods to get back on their good side. Just make sure to burn it on a pyre while chanting "ahhhh.....lummmmmmm........ahhhh.....lummmmmmm". Just a thought.

If only I had a puck of Willams to offer as a sacrifice to the pain stick gods demons.

What? It's being discontinued? I didn't see the Lime when I looked last time, but I guess it's time to get the Lilac one. I still have two more hot sauce bottles of this stuff in my stash.

It's a custom handle. The shop is on etsy at "CNCBRUSHS" and the knot is from Nathan Clark at Envy Shave. It's a soap eating monster, the Ubersoft 2 synthetic, in 28mm.

Did a yard sale yesterday. Brought some of the razors I am selling out, including some DEs and straights. Met a few people who have a box of thier grandfather's razors that they said they will call me on. We will see. Set on guy up with a flair tip, Palmolive shave stick, synthetic brush, and five tucks of Russsian blades. Also shipped some stuff out. Made sure to point out to my wife that I had thinned the heard by two razors, a brush, and three soaps. She then asked what I had coming in the mail. She knows me well. Should have two new soaps and aftershaves on Monday.

Stupid human trick of the day goes to the bearded hipster in his mid twenties who was there with his parents. I warned him that the razors were sharp, but he picked up an old wedge and pressed his thumb down on the edge. He looked at me in shock at the blood coming off his thumb, and said "It is sharp!" I looked at him in shock that anyone could be that dumb. His mom looked at him and asked what the hell he expected. I gave him a band aid, and disinfected the razor. I am guessing he went for stitches. I am honestly more upset that he screwed up the edge on the razor than anything else.

Quick morning shave with the Goose. Purple Rain soap is an awesome soap. Good shave.

On the Stephan's Lime AS, I looked but wasn't able to find the as I recall it very official seeming notice that is was no longer being manufactured. It was mentioned (here).
A shame because it's inexpensive and I haven't tried it. Big fan of lime scent. Fortunately there are alternatives.

    Jun Focus Day 4:

    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    TSD Lanolin Egyptian Spice
    Injector Type J
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Old Spice Classic AS

I skipped my shave yesterday as I was just too tired and wore out. My wife let me sleep in a bit this morning, which I needed, but I was in a rush to get ready. I grabbed the Type J, which has become about as automatic razor as I have ever shaved with. A quick 5 minute, two passes later, and I was DFS. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
