Shave 10 Was cut short today after my first pass. Due to a disturbance in the force. I was working on the very last part of my chin, when for some unknown reason I lost focus for an instant. I dragged the straight Down my chin. Instantly blood started flowing. I was having a darned good shave up until that point. I will be back at it tomorrow night. Oh yah, nobody ever told me these things are REALLY SHARP. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If that what it takes to be official. I would have passed on this whole fiasco. Seriously, it was amazing in an instant, there was blood. I need a bit of your laser like focus. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes it did. I used my styptic pencil and pressure for about 15 minutes. Luckily it is on the front of my chin. There is not too much stretching and moving going on. It should stay closed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am used to cutting myself and getting the bleeding to stop. I bleed most days at work to some extent. If nothing falls off I am good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was getting the last bit right under my lower lip. XTG Instead of bringing the razor away from my face. I lowered my hand to check my progress. Bam nice little cut. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm used to seeing plenty of facial wounds from years of working in hospital ERs and as a medic. After you stop the bleeding having a few tubes of crazy glue is handy. You can use the slightest bit to close up any small wound. It actually works better than stitches and is easier than steri strips. You just have to be careful not to get too much glue on you. It will fall off with some time or be consumed by the bodies white cells. I caught my cheek with a straight razor, much like how the main character in "Dexter," would cut the bad guy he was putting down once. Not as bad but that piece of the cheek bled like nothing else. Faces always bleed a lot. Be well and welcome to the club. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah, you are in. Try to remember the feeling of stinging pressure right before the big damage was done. Sometimes when you feel that you can back off and avoid the actual cut at that point. Bad news is that it takes practice, and probably won't work next time either.
Razor: Gillette Goodwill 1930's Ball End Open Comb (Made in Canada) PIF from Spud form PEI. Blade: Personna Platinum (3) Brush: Franks Shave Finest Faux Ebony (Travel) Soap: Route 66 Bourbon Jungle Aftershave: Route 66 Bourbon Jungle Balm Once again I have a very close comfortable near BBS shave with this razor. The travel brush is a real winner. Route 66 Bourbon Jungle is an out standing soap and the aftershave balm complements the shave perfectly.
Metal shop, huh? Glad I took up wood working, except for the splinters. Fumble fingers post via Kyocera / Tapatalk (subject to later editing)
I had woodworking in junior high school. I guess other students enjoyed it, but I frankly didn't know what I was doing. Metal Shop-same thing.
OCtober Focus Renewed Proraso White & B400 Tuxedo Bunny - V3.1 and Chick blade Alum & old Shulton Old Spice Back on track for OC Focus. As much as I've wandered trying new products it's good to see familiar friends. The synthetic Tuxedo got introduced to Sensitive soap & they get along well. I'm liking how well this knot grabs up soap. Bowl lathered fabulous suds, applied like a boar yet soft as a badger. Three easy passes with @twhite 's labor of love, and I finished near bloodless. It's a no-pressure razor! One chin bite that the alum fixed. Double splash of dwindling vintage AS for a great post hangover afternoon. I should have sat further from the marguerita machine during the wedding reception. Fumble fingers post via Kyocera / Tapatalk (subject to later editing)
SOTD OCtober 15 Cooper Monobilt Feather RazoRock XXX Satin Tip The Purest Crown King Scuttle Florida Water Good afternoon friends. This was my shave yesterday and I am just now getting around to posting it. I had two firsts yesterday. First time using XXX and first time using a feather blade. I loaded up the XXX for about 5 seconds and then began building my lather. As I was building my lather and the full depth of the XXX scent profile was released I though "man this would pair great with Florida Water". After I worked the great smelling soap into a nice lather I painted on my face. With a nice lather on my face I was ready to take on what many dub the sharpest DE blade out there. I expect the heavens to part and the angels to sing and the whiskers to just disappear. I guess I had set my expectations too high. While it is a good blade don't get me wrong I don't feel that it is superior to my other top tier blades. And at 3-5X the price if other premium offerings I just don't see the value. After 3 passes I had a dfs and did manage to give myself a weeper, which I haven't don't in a very long time. Other then that there was no irritation. Finished off with a splash of Florida Water which did pair nicely with the XXX. Have a great evening my friends! Sent from my Galaxy S6 using Tapatalk
I took both those, plus mechanical drawing. Also enjoyed algebra, geometry, and art. Not surprising that I have spent decades designing, engineering, making material lists, building, and repairing things made of wood, concrete, and metal. I make sculptures that folks live in. October 16 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush Stirling Gentleman SS Phoenix Dbl OC Stirling Unscented PSB Stirling Gentleman AS First shave back. I had 6 1/2 days of growth, which I think is a new record since I started traditional wet shaving a little over two years ago. The DOC was up to the challenge, as I am forced to work a little slowly and have a bit of a difficult time leaning over the sink. I left mustache and chin alone, sort of and unconnected gotee, as my kids like to see facial hair sometimes. The rest is pretty close to BBS, and it was very comfortable. The Stirling Gentleman is a great tobacco scent. It definitely has my approval, and I think my wife likes it as well. A big thank you to all the prayers and well wishes. I hope everyone is having a great day!
