NOVember!! November 2 Grand Blade Trial - NOVember Shave Razor - Rabbit Straight Soap - Tabac Brush - Semogue 620 Post - Alum, Nivea Day two on the Rabbit and I'm beginning to feel the rhythm a bit. Stropped 30 times before shaving and the blade feels good. I found the reduction a bit on the light side but I feel like I'm struggling on getting the angle set. That old nervousness about adding so much you just hack off half your face, y'know? So I went back on the second pass and added some angle and got better results. Finished again with a nice CCS and only one minor nick where I set down a bit wrong on my right side neck. Then, stropped post-shave to set it up for tomorrow. Seriously, if there was no stropping I think I could relax and enjoy it more. Not sure why I'm fighting that step but it has never felt particularly natural to me and just adds a step to worry about. I need to discover the Zen of the Strop and work it from there. Maybe I'll spend some time meditating with the strop to become one with it. Cubs are leading the Indians at this point. Those of us in STL are all pretty much Cleveland fans tonight but.....if the Cubbies win the trophy it will be a historic moment. And....since I was at Busch Stadium today for a work event and saw all of the Cardinals trophies while there.....giving the Cubs one won't make them anything but a one time winner in over 100 years. Yeah, take that you little bear things. On another Busch Stadium note that has nothing to do with shaving.....the field is ripped up at the moment while they improve the drainage under it for next year....and while it's being worked on they'll be starting the setup for the NHL Winter Classic this year. January 1st - Blues vs. Blackhawks!! And guess what? STL thinks the same of the Blackhawks as they do the Cubs. Should be a great game! One final image for any Cubs fans out there. Looks like you may be champs this year so congrats! I'll just leave this here.
Time for the next soap, Knize Ten, I have not used this since early spring but it is getting cold and time for the leathers t come out. Day with Knize Ten soap, Feather DX with a day 2 Pro blade and my favorite brush, a two band Thäter. Yeah the soap smells great, wish it was as strong as the EdT. The quality of the lather is tops too, cushion and plenty slick when wet. Today was the best shave ever with a shavette. I would rate it just short of epic. No blood, no irritation and BBS.
2 November 2016 Shavette Angle Rule Another decent two pass, no weepers today. Forgot to switch, so this was day two on the blade. So, using very light pressure, I attempted to hold a constant angle. Still managed to scrape a little on the jawline, but had a good day with it. Sticking with the wetter Arko was good as well. Alum was mostly cool, smooth face, and since I am still a hero...the Veg finished it all off nicely. Bone dry, dusty, forty mph wind out on the prairie again today. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a great Thursday! ☺
Nothing like a rain delay at midnight in game 7. The Series that wouldn't die! I think both curses are fighting it out to the death.
Gillette Tech Weber Bulldog Gillette Silver Blue (3) Semogue BC Mistura Soap Commander Love Alum Better shave than yesterday below the jaw line. I am close to where I was with a more aggressive razor. This morning was my first shave with the SC Love soap and the scent is delightful. Very nice shave this morning.
November 3, 2016 Wolfman WR-01 Ti OC with Triad Ti Personna 74 (5) Simpson CH 2 Synthetic Badger Mystic Water Eucalyptus & Spearmint Witch Hazel Fine Platinum Whipped Shea Butter Another fantastic shave this morning. I face lathered the MW Eucalyptus & Spearmint shave stick with a damp brush. I slowly added water as I lathered. I have found that Mystic Water works best when water is added slowly. In short order, I had a mountain of rich slick lather. Sticking with my normal three pass shave and minimal touch ups ended in my normal near BBS. So far the Personna 74 continues to perform well. I finished off the shave with a splash of Fine Platinum. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.
November 3 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush AOS Ocean Kelp SC Schick Hydro-magic Stirling Unscented PSB Brut Classic AS It was a decent shave this morning. I have just a bit of irritation, partly because I chased a bit on my neck, but a but on my chin as well. I did get a DFS+ level of smoothness. I'll give this razor another shave or two, but for some reason the angle does not seem as natural to me with this razor as some other Injectors. I finished with some Brut, which is always a personal favorite. I hope everyone has a great day!
SOTN NOVember 2nd Schick Krona Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless La Toja (Bowl Loaded) Stirling 24mm Synthetic Crown King Scuttle Homemade Tangerine and Tea Tree AS I really don't know why the Schick Krona doesn't get more attention (I'm Guilty of ignoring it as well). It is a fantastic shaver and very intuitive to use. Finding the angle is almost automatic and the slightly longer handle makes it very easy to maneuver around your face. And besides that it just plain looks cool! Three days on the 7 O'C SS and it still feels just as sharp as day one, this blade might give the GSB a run for its money as the leader of the pack for me. have a great day my friends!
Razor: Mongoose B2 Satin w/Timeless Pineapple Design Blade: Feather Pro (4) Brush: Rubberset 400 Unmarked w/Omega Pro 49 Soap: Route 66 Cavendish Aftershave: Folsom Capri
Day 2 for Knize Ten soap and today was the hot scuttle test. The lather held up and performed well but not quite as good as when I use warm water. I started with a Cobra Classic but the first pass felt tuggy and so I decided to bin the blade and loaded my Slim AI shavette. Four passes, a nick, a small cut but the alum gave just a little feedback and finished just short of BBS. In true 30 Day style, except for the blood a decent shave. I was a little rushed today and my technique suffered.
