I get that irritation too. When I have to shave daily, I don't worry so much about getting as close a shave as I do about having a presentable shave. That helps. I always splash with Witch Hazel, which also seems to help. And Palmer's cocoa butter. Love the stuff. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
I had a tub of this, and used about half before I PIFed it. The scent had a very strong clove element, along with something else I couldn't identify. It's a great performer though.
Depending on what Congress does with the retirement age and Medicare, I have some where between 25 and 50 years before I can do that. Wow, that's depressing. Recently got a promotion that is going to involve more suits and client interaction so will be shaving more often for the foreseeable future. My post shave is cold water, alum, witch hazel, then my aftershave. The cold water and witch hazel calm a lot down. The hair on my neck doesn't have a consistent pattern. That area is actually a cowlick that goes in all directions, which is part of the problem.
"Medentra shavette" googles up European ebay listings. It looks like a well build tool from a company that sells medical equipment. Are you not happy with it? The price is decent.
Thanks, Charlie. I do like my job, but I hate the expectations about how I need to look. When I started with the company 14 years ago, I wore jeans every day, and shaved about once a week. As my jobs have progressed, the unwritten dress and grooming code has been enforced, generally by someone pulling me aside and telling me that "This isn't a requirement, but you should probably do it anyways." My hair has gotten shorter, my clothes more professional, my tattoos covered with long sleeves, and one of those chats sent me looking for a more comfortable way to shave. Being able to shave more often and look presentable is what landed me here. Glad I'm here, but being a responsible adult sucks sometimes. I just rummaged through my wife's cabinet, no shea butter. I will get some at the hippie grocery store this weekend. Put some glycerine on to see if that helps. Thanks for the suggestion.
Happy Anniversary January!! January 11 Mostly Shavettes Razor - Magic Shavette Blade - (2) Soap - Arko Brush - BoS Omega 10066 Post - Alum Second day with the Magic and Racer blade. Again a great lather, of course given that it's Arko, and the first pass was uneventful. In fact, it was very smooth and comfortable. When I changed to my left hand I slowed down, watched angle, thought about every stroke and managed to finish the pass with no blood today. Used the same technique on the second pass working some XTG in and even a bit of ATG on the face. Finished with a nice DFS and I am actually quite pleased with how this little shaver handled. The feel of the blade is similar to the DE feel in a Fatip with one minor difference. It seems like it's a bit less "dangerous feeling", even though it's just a blade without a guard. Something about being able to instantly adjust angle across an infinite arc makes finding the sweet spot very easy and comfortable. I expect as I try other blades this same way I'll find the same thing. A fun little experiment to kill a few days in January. They're saying a major ice storm is on its way, though they've shifted the track slightly south so maybe we won't get the worst of it. It has been in the mid to high 60's the past two days but no more. I think I need to emphasize to @Bama Samurai that this kind of storm needs to either stay on the Colorado prairie, or he needs to route it further North to Iowa. Just name the bribe needed.
Hmmmm. Did you ever hear the story about the woman who lived on the border between Iowa and Minnesota? For years there were arguments about which state she lived in, and consequently which state she owed taxes to. Finally a federal surveyor came out and did his measurements and knocked on her door to tell her that she definitely lived in Iowa. "Thank God." she said. "I don't think I could take another Minnesota winter."
That's good. I needed that one when I lived in North Dakota. Lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
I see a novel in your future. The Feather SS is indeed a mighty and to-be-respected item and can lend itself to bloody mayhem in an instant. However, you are one step closer to mastering it. Or, at least, taming it enough to avoid death by incessant slicing. And remember - once you have the Feather Pro blade under control, the Super Pro awaits. Good times. I do love me some pain sticks. I would like to add the high end Kai this year at some point. Can't remember the name at the moment (age again) but I know it's awesome looking and well over $100. Which is why it isn't currently sitting on my desk.
