I think there is a big thread on disassembly and reassembly of Fatboys over on B&B, but I haven't visited that forum in over a year.
Nice. But you still won't get me over to the Dark Side, cookies or not. Anything nicknamed "cutthroat" I'll be staying away from. No offense.
The Monty Haul PIFed FatBoy? It was part of a lot I traded for at an antique store. I was getting the New LC, the Fatty was along for the ride. Had a stuck adjuster so I downgraded it's value to the previous owner but accepted it as part of the trade. Partial disassembled, but not fully broken down, the adjuster freed up. Not sure if it actually works, but it wasn't locked in place. That was the only #195 I haven't restored to full functionality and taken for a test shave out of the 6 or 8 that have passed through my hands. I hope I didn't send you a dud, but it was "What's behind the curtian..." Worst case it parts to repair another. Tapatalk Via Kyocera
Thank you, Clint. It is so nice to have just a little comfort of home when on the road. If nothing else about this trip, I can say the shaves have been good. I am definitely looking forward to heading home tomorrow, though.
Troy, your NEW SC is a beauty! The red accents are a nice touch! I will enjoy following your focus using it with Feather blades. I picked up a NOS NEW SC on eBay a few months ago (still had the the cardboard insert between the top and bottom head plates), and you are inspiring me to give it a try.
Thanks Charlie, it is a great shaver. It has parts from both the 46-47 and 48-50 Aristocrats, so I figure it was an early 48 where Gillette was trying to use leftover parts from 46-47's. And consequently the source of my CT.

Razor: Gillette Super Speed Black Handle Flare Tip (P1) Blade: Gillette Platinum (2) Brush: WDC-7 Olivewood Handle, Silvertip Soap: Route 66 Casablanca Aftershave: Floid Blue To my understand the Route 66 Casablanca is no longer available. To bad in my opinion. I really like this soap. I started off with the Olivewood Silvertip, but as there was more hairs flying than in a cat fight I switched to Tom White's Nylon 3D Printer brush with the Faux Horsehair Extra Dense Synthetic, which whipped up a great lather. I recently changed the knot in this brush and the AP Shave Co. Faux Horsehair was the only 22 mm knot that I had. Start: Change:
Hello Clint. We're actually staying pretty busy, but it does feel like vacation. Come join me as soon as you can!
That is the first time I've used it Clint. I think the Tuxedo has more backbone. I only had a 10 mm depth to work with, so that may be the reason it felt different. It is another good knot from A P Shave Co. IMO.
Nice set up, as usual, Doug. How do you like the Floid Blue? I have the Vigoroso, and it has a nice mentholated powdery scent. Sorry to hear about your Olivewood brush. Do you plan to re-knot it?
