That picture, like a sack of hammers just hit me upside the head, made me realize how badly I want spring to get here.
February 26 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush Stubble Trubble Up & Adam Merkur Futur Gillette Cool Wave AS The last shave with the Merkur Futur this month, as I am heading to California tomorrow. I find that I really enjoy this razor, and it provides a lot of variety in shaving with the adjustments. Setting 1 is nice and easy, and Setting Neal is a no holds barred razor. I will get the comparison pic posted later today, as I have been a bit busy. I hope everyone has a great day!
Decided to take a rest day from shaving. 25 days straight, I needed a break. Instead, I took some time to reknot my Etsy brush. Details are in the brush forum but here is the finished result. Will let it dry and will put it back into the rotation on the 28th.
Never heard of them until you mentioned the name just now. Great ... Just what I needed ... Another Canadian dealer's website to drool over today ... When I break my NB'17 and then later am found down and out, broke, living on the street, surrounded by a warehouse worth of shaving products, I will attribute my decline and downfall to excessive interaction with the enablers on the 30-Day Crew ... Now excuse me while I go google CanadianBladeCo to find the website... Edit:. Hmm... In addition to Stirling soap, I see they also carry the Derby shaving creams plus Barrister+Mann, Fine, Henri et Victoria, Jeeves of Hudson Street, and Tallow+Steel ... And they have flat rate shipping in Canada...
When I am living at the shelter due to excessive Acquision Disorder, it will be comforting to think that there will be another well-shaved, good smelling Canuck there with me...
February Fat Boy Focus Mystic Water soap, B-400 Tuxedo Gillette 195, Wilkinson Sword blade Alum, Proraso Refresh AS lotion One of my top sniffed soaps in the Soap Pass-around. Enhanced with shea butter, lanolin, and full-on scent it lathers easily. My regular routine of WTG at 9, 6 for the rest of the shave gave great reduction and zero irritation. Alum swiped glass smooth and cool. DFS for sure. Splashed on the Proraso for a like scent. Now I can't tell if I'm still smelling the soap, or the AS is that good. Good Shaves Y'all!
February 26 (Sunday) - Focus? What's that and why would I want one now? Gem 1912 / Gem PTFE (1) 1930s Simms w/ 22mm Maggard black synthetic reknot The Eternal Tub of TOBS Avocado Cream ( croap ) Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Aftershave I had shaved with an EverReady 1912 but had never given my Gem 1912 SE a whirl, so I broke it in today (as much as one can break in a century-old razor). With the big flat head, it's quite a different beast to handle than the DEs I have been using lately. It also give more audible feedback than any of my other razors, really singing as the whiskers get mowed down. It gives a good shave - near BBS with one pass. Felt very smooth while cutting and the alum had nothing to say afterwards. Do I like it? I'm not sure. I think maybe I will spend this week using my Gem and EverReady 1912s and see what I conclude after a more extended run...
-Supply SE -Omega 49 -Stirling Black Ice -M-Bomb and Menthol Crystals The Omega 49. All the brushes I have in my den and I get excited every time this ones's turn comes up. I don't know if maybe part of it is that a 49 was the first brush I ever bought, but what a fun brush to use. The tips are pretty soft, but it gives a great scrub, and never ever hogs my lather. All for $10. What a classic. I am first class smooth today. I just simply like everything there is about using this razor. A nipped off AC blade, and it is the most efficient but mild combo I have ever used. I have talked a little with Patrick, the maker of this razor, and it sounds as if a fourth, more aggressive plate is almost certainly going to happen. It will take a while before it comes out, but that is going to make this thing into my holy grail, "unicorn" razor. The "three dot" or most aggressive plate currently, gives a good BBS shave, but a step up would be a great Sunday morning, take your time with a cup of coffee addition. I hope you all have a great new week.
Razor: Mongoose B2 w/ Hempel Ti Handle Blade: KAI Titan Mild (1) Brush: Oscar 11 w/TGN Silvertip Grade A Soap: Jeeves Soap Private Study Aftershave: Fine American Blend Bowl: Junichi Tanaka Scuttle I did not seat the blade properly and ended up looking like I just walked a mile in Elephant Grass. It's great to mess up once in a while. Keeps you on your toes. Tomorrow will be better.
What a great looking brush. I am disappointed that I was never able to acquire an Oscar brush before he stopped making them.
