Tomorrow's a special day. Your first Voskhod. Pictures, videos, a cake - all appropriate for the celebration.

Beautiful brush. I love how that milky cloud is just swirled within the handle. Very cool.

Well, one thing for certain, I no longer need to worry that the problem is being caused by my experimenting with a cheap brush. I was fooling around with it earlier and, next thing I know, I hear a "pop" and the knot falls out.

Now the question is whether to deal with the manufacturer's 6-month warranty (on a $2.50 brush) or just hit the web and grab a decent knot as a replacement.

I vote decent knot. Dealing with warranties are usually a pain in the backside anyway....and not enough value to start with if you're me.

So, then I shouldn't bother with the extended warrantee the next time I buy a mattress? :)

Gotcha there! We don't even have one to offer! Now on the adjustable base, of course you want to buy that warrantee. Full coverage warranty for a full 10 years in case a motor burns out, support brace breaks, hydraulic cylinder bursts. Under $500 and worth every penny of worry free good night's sleep protection!

My favorite "extended warranty" pitch I've ever heard or been near - in the car business. Here's the phrase the finance manager would use - "You can receive free oil changes every XXXX miles or XX days for the next 3 years. And it's only $650". Yes, people often got those "free oil changes".

My favorite was last week at Best Buy when the cashier offered me an extended warrantee on a $10 Logitech mouse. I figure that, at that price, if it breaks, I just buy a new one.

Had a physically taxing work day on Saturday, so I slept in late today. Nephew called around lunch time needing help today. Different kind of work - helping eat two sacks of crawfish. Got a shave in before I headed to his house. Looking through my samples, I wanted to try out something special. MdC is highly spoken of so it was chosen. I diverged from my normal bowl lather only having a small sample from the Pass Around. Splashed warm water on my face and rubbed a chip of soap on two days growth of stubble. Moistened High Mountain badger brought up a respectable lather quickly. Nice scent, too. Dropped a slightly used, but still under warranty For Hospital Use blade into the Red Tip and set to WTG 1st pass. Slight dribble of water on the soaped up brush brought more lather for ATG 2nd pass. Had to rub a little more soap on for XTG 3rd pass. I noticed a good bit of residual slickness from the soap during chin buffing and the scent is plentiful. Rinsed, swiped alum for a cool report, thought the Avon AS gave a good alcohol burn. Between the brush and razor Good performance. The soap is better than average. If I recall it's a long lasting hard soap, but pricey. Glad I got to take it for a test shave.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Talk about overkill on a warranty pitch. However, there are people who buy it. Some people are so conditioned to the extended warranties they won't even let you pitch it. You mention it and they say yes without even hearing the price. With mattresses, though, an extended warranty would go against marketing. Almost all mattresses have a 10 year warranty and....you can all probably say the famous Mattress Firm marketing slogan in your sleep - Replace every..........what is it? Come on, you know it. Replace every 8! Warranty be damned, we want you to replace your mattress on a cycle.

I've been sleeping on a full motion waterbed since 1979. I only replace the mattress when it can't be patched. No warranty on the frame because I built it myself.

    March Madness & Spring Cleaning!!

    March 5

Razor - Steampunk Gillette New LC
    Blade - voskhod-teflon-coated.jpg (1)
Soap - Route 66 Sweeney Todd
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Post - Alum, Nivea

Time to back the aggression down a bit after two rough shaves with the Greager. The New LC is the mildest of the OC razors in my collection and does a great job with little irritation compared to some others. Throw in the Voskhod and it's a shave that should give my face some time to heal up before hitting the pain stick again. Route 66 and the Omega produced a perfect lather the first time. Get the brush wet enough, load it hard and it face lathers like a champ.

Two passes with no expectations on the result except to be blood free. I accomplished that plus a very nice DFS shave to boot. Alum was quiet and the Nivea was soothing. Combine that with the lanolin in the Route 66 and my face feels smooth, soft and fantastic. Another night with this razor should let my face resettle and then back to pain sticks on Tuesday. Now that I've spotted the wonky shaving head on the Greager I think I can adjust for it. We'll see.

Hope you had a great weekend. Mine started tonight and it couldn't have come soon enough. Past two days have been among the least enjoyable I can remember. This job would be perfect if it weren't for the customers. :angry032:

I feel you with the 34c. I want it to work for me so badly. It is better with a sharper blade, but I still feel that it's just too mild for my tastes. And TOBS Sandalwood is such a fantastic scent. I rarely use it, but I inevitably enjoy it when I do.
