    Mike,

Camera was facing west tonight over the inlet at Waikoloa Village, Island of Hawai'i, Hawaii, USA. Tonight's sunset caused me to remember you describing a similar experience in your travels. I was on a black volcanic beach with my family, and we were all able to sit still and observe the speed of the earth's rotation as the sun dropped into the Pacific Ocean.

Half brothers, both full German Short-haired Pointers from a gun dog breeder in CO. Their local GSP lines are black and white as opposed to the codified liver and white. Challenging breed though, they are great athletes and can be destructive when bored. But like most working or sporting breeds, they are amazing companions and coworkers when trained and handled properly.

I rescued a German Short-hair Pointer / Coon Hound mix from the local APL years ago. She was coal black with mottled grey saddle and accents.
Your twins reminded me of her. She was a runner, and could be aggressive but a beautiful animal. Miss her (Ashley).

    Thanks for sharing.

The dogs went crazy a few minutes ago. I looked out the side deck door - looks like the evil (the dog's perspective) bambi is back. They're dropping fawns all through the area. No hunting area so the population is getting out of control. The open area, in the rear of the photo, often will have a dozen at a time.

No hunting? Odd. I know that here, as well as most farming areas, if you have them in your yard, destroying your property, there are loopholes in the hunting season laws. (Has to be YOUR property, however. )

The entire area is a nature preserve. The deer - although plentiful don't cause any problem - except in the minds of my dogs.

Here are a few more photo from my road trip. First is one from Joshua Tree National Park (lots of rocks and ugly trees) in Southern California the others are from Arches National Park in Utah. On my way to Ithaca, New York and then on to Maine. Today however, I'm attending the wet shaving event at Maggard's Razors in Adrian, Michigan. Lots of vendors and about 200 wet shavers will be there.

I was sitting on my front deck yesterday afternoon sipping a bourbon when I suddenly heard slurping sounds. Found a visitor getting her afternoon drink as well. I went in got the camera as she continued to drink from the fish pond. I was only about 4 feet away when I took the photo. She wasn't concerned at all. I have to add water to the pond every other week. Living in the woods I'm sure just about every critter comes and drinks. Its the only water to be found this time of year.

Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but this guy has been right beside me all day, as I try to nurse my horrible back pain. (I will be ok on Tuesday, going to get a cortisone shot.)
