I love the look of this razor, probably one of the best looking ever. I haven't used one yet but I'm waiting on delivery of a Streamline. I'm expecting great things

I was wondering if anyone might know more about this GEM razor. It's was in a small advertising box for a shoe company. 1912 style with a short nickel plated handle. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

I really like the shaves they give. They are also super cool looking.

All my '24 heads have curved teeth.

Pulled out a Treet baton handle today. Awesome shave with Arko and the JR #137.

Those short handles shave nice. I think they also used a similar one in the minute man sets. I have seen a lot of advertising sets.

Used my Schick G1 for the first time tonight. It's a tad more aggressive than my J1 but gives a close, effortless shave. I could see me easily using this one if I need a close shave but don't have time for a multi-pass shave. Tonight's shave was capped off with the use of my new RazoRock 400 brush. Wow I love this thing. Highly recommended!

The shaving bowl is one of those Turkish copper shaving bowls typically found on ebay for about $10 (shipped). It whips up a lather in no time as the entire thing is "hand" hammered from outside in, meaning the inside is loaded with little bumps. I think I first saw it in this thread:

    http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/lets-see-your-shave-bowl-mug-collection.54707/

After I saw it I found a few threads on various shaving forums where people swore by it for lathering. I'm always on the lookout for good or interesting shaving bowls. I found a marble bowl that should work really well that I'll be picking up on Monday that's also $10. It's about the same size as the salsa bowls people are using.

The L'OCCITANE Cade Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #182 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Gem 1911 Lather Catcher with a CVS blade, and I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Florida Water AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

At the risk of offending my new friends in the SE community, I have to say that I was sorta underwhelmed by my GEM Featherweight experience. Okay shaves, but I get better with my DE's. Gonna keep her but she'll be coming off the bench, pinch hitting occasionally.

What all SE's do you have? I ask because I have a pass around going with the 1912,1914,&1924. These three razors will be more aggressive than the Featherweight.

Head over and sign up. Ever Ready Pass around.

You're not alone on that. Maybe I didn't give my FW enough of a chance but I ended up selling mine shortly after acquiring it as it was too mild. YMMV is clearly the hallmark of wet shaving. :happy088:

Henckels wedge blade. Wasn't the easiest shave but it turned out O.K.. I need to fine tune this blade. [IMG]
