Great report! Blade angle and reduced pressure are the key.

Some day soon you will have an epiphany as to what no pressure actually means. When that happen it will be a game changer. I know some people say to let the weight of the razor do the work, the problem with that is if you are using a heavy razor that can still be too much pressure.

Sorry, have been away for almost a week. I'll get the list to you, Rick, and will get a picture posted.

What aftershave are you using? High alcohol content will do that. You might consider trying a witch hazel splash, balm, or a lotion type.

I have a few of the latter, but I like the alcohol burn of Pinaud products, M&L Florida Water, and vintage Avon AS. Before I apply my AS, I use an alum block. Rubbing the block on wet skin after shaving gives very specific news about where I failed in my technique.

I did recall you mentioned a sporting event, playoffs?
This gathering of photos is a no hurries - no worries project. Partially to satisfy my curiosity about what knots everyone chose for their brush. The other idea was to present you with all the brushes in one big picture. Might be worth getting printed for a wall hanging.

I've been using Witch Hazel followed by the proraso blue asb. I used Stetson today before the proraso and boy I felt it. I heard somewhere that the stetson aftershave has one of the highest alcohol contents.

Yes, a big Field Lacrosse tournament in Oregon. Quite a long trip, but a lot of fun.
The photograph would be super cool!

    July 24 - Break Time

Razor - Delta Echo Gillette New LC
    Blade - ladas-super-stainless.jpg (1)
    Soap - Proraso Sandalwood
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Post - Alum

Waiting on blades for the AC to arrive so I decided to take a break and go old school with razor and soap. The New LC is a fine vintage razor, and in the Delta Echo restoration it's just stunning. How about some Proraso for a change? Sandalwood, thank you very much. And, the Omega 10066 boar brush just to take it all "old school". Throw in a Ladas blade for that Russiany goodness and it is an epic shave.

Proraso was my first soap and gets very little love from me anymore. That is, of course, partly due to the enablers around here. But, it's one of those classic soaps that does one thing. It works. Slick, protective, and with the above average aggression of the New and the Ladas the shave was smooth and a BBS in two passes and touch ups. Very enjoyable for a break. I didn't even mind waiting for the brush to soak, and the feel of the boar was very nice. Just a hint of scritch but still very soft as it is very well broken in from heavy use over the past couple of years.

That, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and all the ships at sea - is a classic shave. And the alum - silent.

Watch your angles. The AS is saying your angle is too high and it's scraping you and not cutting efficienctly. Stay with it! You'll get there pretty soon!

    Some thoughts in recent shaves.....

That GEM has 18 days on it. Technique affects blade life. Believe.

@PickledNorthern sent me the soap. FWIW, He learned open blades on shavette. That makes his soap opinion valuable, if you follow the logic. I'd buy this soap. It's really good.

Not even gonna write. You already now. Never Mind. It's too much fun!

    Williams Wednesday.

Feel better? Good. Me too. Try it with AV. Classic.

Euro drug store cream. I like it. A lot. Moderate menthol, Arko level lather. Awesome skin feel post-shave. Hero finish.

See, I am sticking to the plan. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a groovy Tuesday!

Just when I start to like you and send people to your store.... But really. No one is ever going to love everything. I am glad you like some of the good stuff. The 1912 and Shovelhead are awesome razors.

Sounds like you are doing great. Keep at it. I see other have already given the right advise on the shaves.

    Proceed along the path......

"Did a bit of an edit there to cut down on the quote length."

That is a nice run on that blade. Keep it up WOO!!

I also see my Williams Wednesday shave will be unpostable across the street. I will match your shave there!!!

    Not much new around here.

Have you tried the half DE blade? I used the long blade to start but found that I like the DE better in the DOVO.

Thursday shave on this blade and it was a solid DFS, but the real stand out this morning was the brush. I had already used this knot several times, but the handle definitely made a difference. It was much more comfortable to use than the former Omega handle. It was definitely an enjoyable shave this morning. Not only does it look terrific, but it is fun to use. Thanks again @jtspartan!

Not yet. I actually like this blade and I have several that utilize a half DE.
