Thanks for responding Charlie. I always like to know what others are using. I do about the same thing as you do. I have a light box and trip I rarely use. I do use the 100-300mm zoom lens with the flash off. I upload the photos to the Mac and do some basic editing.

You realize that Cartel rules require you take the Czar on any vacations to beachfront property. We'll let it slide this time but I'm watching you.

NOVember Middle of the Menthol Monday Day...shave.

Barbasol Arctic Chill & Cremo Cooling
    Oceans Vintage boar, Suribachi bowl
Ming Shi 2000S & Gillette Nacet blade
    Alum, Barbasol Pacific Rush AfterShave

    SOTD 11062017 Nacet.gif

Inspired by folks who do Menthol Monday's & @sdguero doing his Barbasol Travel Can Experiment I Super Lathered up a batch of creamy cool goodness. Using a well broken in boar brush that originated in Germany and found it's way to a thrift store near me, the two prehydrated products came together with little need for more water. Bumping up the Adjustable Clone to four & a half my three passes plus resulted in an error free reduction. Opened up the adjustable clone to rinse out the shave cream and realized I've been enjoying a Gillette Nacet, not a Personna Lab Blue. So now that I've thoroughly lost count of blade uses I'll do what I usually do - change blades when it starts tugging. I'm still learning the oddities of this large capped tool. Lower lip detailing is progressing, but the overall effect is still less that a benchmark Fat Boy shave. Only 24 days left in the month. Give today's procedure a CCS+ leaving room for improvement but no blood was spilt.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Monday evening November 6 - on Rule and Menthol Monday

    Rockwell 6s on plate #6 / Topaz Platinum (2)
Semogue Owners Club cherrywood boar brush
    TOBS Avocado Cream
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Original Astringent and Clubman Osage Rub

The brush and cream performed to standard - creamy lather everywhere. The razor on plate #6 wasn't noticeably more aggressive than it was on plate #5 yesterday. The shave went without a hitch and without blood. However, I didn't notice that I got any better a shave on plate #6 than I do on the mild but efficient plate #3. So I am dropping back to #3 for future uses of this razor. If I ever have a scruffy beard to get rid of, I may switch back to #5 or #6 for that; otherwise they are unnecessary overkill.

To honour Menthol Monday, I took a small, tiny, minute , minuscule piece of the action with a similarly sized portion of Osage Rub. Fifteen minutes later, my face still feels chilled...

    NOVember 5,6,7
    EJ 89lbl w Nacet (4,1,2)
    Prohibition Style SS
    TGN Synthetic
    Thayers
    M&L Florida Water
    image.jpg
I have been keeping true to the focus, and have one more day with this gear until I swap stuff out for my next week's focus. I have tried and tried with the Prohibition Style. I've gotten all I can out of it. I've tried smushing into the bottom of a bowl (this weekend) and trying to 'super goop' it (this morning). I get a decent enough lather, but without the volume I'm used to and having to work way too hard.
My thought for this soap after its last use tomorrow morning? :sick002: :sick013: :signs131:
I will say, though, that I have been getting exceptionally close shaves with the EJ/Nacet combo and have had zero irritation from the thin lather, at least. Loving the Florida Water as well.
I'll switch up to a razor/soap/AS that I haven't used much lately. I'll figure it out tomorrow night. I do have a new brush that I'll break into the rotation, too.
    Have a great night all!

    November 6 - Qshave Focus
    Razor - Qshave Futur Clone
    Blade - wilkinson-sword.jpg (1)
    Pre-Shave - Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    Soap - Dirty Deeds Tobacco
    Brush - Jayaruh #54
    Post - Alum

So. @Keithmax goes to Phuket and leaves the Czar at home. That's ok. I'll see your Phuket and raise you Grafton. Oh, so now you're curious as to what Grafton is? Why, only the finest tourist trappy town on the Illinois side of the Mighty Mississippi along the Great Rivers Road. Yeah, match THAT with your fancy Phuket. Even had fresh catfish at the Fin Inn while I was there just to rub this kind of luxury in his FACE! Who needs Phuket now, eh? (Seriously Keith - I'm packed and ready anytime).

Anyway - tonight's shave continues the Qshave focus that has now become my month. One slight challenge is that I decided when I thought it would be a few days fill in to not use any Russian blades. Well, I'll stick with that for the month. No Russian steel will touch my face this month with this razor. So now the problem is - what non-Russians do I like enough to fill a month?! I already used my favorite, the Bic CP. Aha - I have about a dozen German Wilkinson Swords. There you go. Great blade that should work nicely for the next three days.

Qshave dialed up to 5 and the gap is getting a bit scary looking. Used the pre-shave again and Dirty Deeds soap with the JR54 for a great creamy and slick lather. Two passes ever-mindful of the need to avoid pressure and some touch up and the baby is almost in the house. I decided not to push it any further. The feel of the shave was actually very smooth and the alum is mostly silent. Can't argue with those results. I'm thinking I'm dialing up to 6 tomorrow and letting it rip! Well, hopefully not literally.

Well, you definitely gave that soap the old college try. In fact, at this point, I think you are well past dead and into flogging a deceased equine with it.

I am looking forward to seeing you shaving with a more rewarding product and to seeing the new brush tomorrow.

Alright all you conniving and enabling rats, I just gave in to temptation and bought a Simpson Chubby 2 Synthetic in traditional Ivory from Straight Razor Designs. Happy?

Edit:. BTW, has anyone here ever used any of the Simpson shaving creams? If so, how are they?
