Thank you, Jason! A little old man smell every now and then is perfectly acceptable!

Agreed, Jason. The advice and mutual coaching really works, and that is the solid foundation that makes this place work. Without that, the shenanigans and sidebar discussions would very quickly fall apart.

    Pre-shave: hot shower
    Brush: Barburys by Sibel
Cream: Barburys by Sibel Shaving Cream
Razor: Gillette Fat Boy E-4 (set to #1)
    Blade: Wilkinson-Sword (2)
Post-shave: Assured WH (Dollar Tree), Barburys by Sibel AS Balm, Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve AS Cologne

After my CFS yesterday with this Fat Boy dialed to #5, I had barely noticeable stubble this morning so I dialed it back to #1 so I could see how the razor performs on the mild side. The razor performed very well on my cheeks which I rarely have trouble obtaining BBS most of the time with any razor with two passes. My neck is always the stubborn area, and while it felt good I could not achieve complete satisfaction there.

Overall, it was an "okay" shave. Not bad. Not great. No complaint about the razor or the blade. The Barburys by Sibel products are something new I acquired last week at Sally's Beauty Supply when I stopped in for some blades. I'll post my thoughts on these items later on a separate post. I've got to go run some errands.

I hope you all have a terrific shave!

    * Of course, my bride set up this photo. Believe me... I'm not that decorative. ;)

Now that I know the Live Action handle is functional I'll use it instead of swapping in a pinch hitter.
Of all my vintage razors the NEW OC is one I'd consider investing in getting a replate. They look good in Nickel.

The soap is Top Shelf. I'm OK with the scent while shaving. Might even Rock the Tabac AS. Need to try it before I'd consider cologne.

Looking forward to your review. I do like products that can be purchased locally. Sally's doesn't (Yet) carry much for men's shaving. They need to see products move off the shelf to stock more and better.
I did find a local non-chain pharmacy that carries much of the Proraso line. The owner has seen the Wet Shaving light. One day I'll catch him in his shop and have a discussion.

    Thanks Andrew!

Thanks Jason. I very much enjoy using the Chubby 2. I've really gotten comfortable using it over the past few weeks. I have a few more weeks left to finish my Russian blade/Chubby 2 focus, and then I'll move on to a brush I haven't used in awhile. It is a LE Rudy Vey Custom Chubby handle with a 24 mm Shavemac Two-band Silvertip knot. Rudy gave me # 15, as my Dad was born in 1915. Here it is shown with my '54 Super Speed. This was a terrific combo, by the way. :)

I had such a great shave today with the Oleo Soapworks El Caballero shave soap. It produced a nice, slick, smell-um-good lather. It paired perfectly with Captain's Choice Bay Rum aftershave and Aramis Cologne. I liked it so well that I plan to use it again tomorrow. Thanks again @Douglas Carey for your generosity. :happy088:

I'm going for 7 shaves on the Astra SP Blade, and I think it will make it. If I was going to recommend a blade to a new DE shaver, this would be it. It's sharp and smooth, relatively inexpensive, and readily available on Amazon. Pair it a DE 89 or a Parker 99R, an Omega boar brush, a stick of Arko, and a new shaver would be all set....until the ADs reared their ugly heads.

My Bride and I are looking forward to an early Christmas dinner tonight with her side of the family. It should be fun.

Cool photo, Dan. I nominate your Bride to be a 30DC member! OK....now I just had a @PickledNorthern moment. Give Santa a shave with the 'ol 195 and see how long it takes for your Bride to notice. Report back when you regain consciousness. ;)
