That line on the spine does look crisp! Gonna protect that with tape when I hone them. I knew it!!! Very disappointing. I will get them in the mail to you Keith immediately. Friends don’t let friends own junk razors!!!
No, junk is what I bought (See the Haul) http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/the-haul-january-2018.58414/page-16 The one with decent scales is rusty. The one with a decent blade has a set of scales that look drunk. The decent blade one is a B. W. Middlebrooks, and is from somewhere prior to 1922 (where their Georgia location, at least, went bankrupt). They appeared to be a dry goods and buggy mail order group. No clue on the "Lee's Warranted". Neither has a country stamp on the blades.
Just arrived at my office. So pictures are quick snapshots at my desk. Older Thiers Issard Bison. The eBay pictures were crappy and seller was a general seller of random old things. This was somewhat of a gamble, however I hit the lottery with this one. The blade is in unused condition. 6/8, double jimps, mirror polish on the show side, satin on the other. The scales have a little scratches, probably because it’s stored in a leather pouch with a snap. The scales do not photograph well, but are gorgeous, semi translucent brown. No cleaning required. Maybe a little polish on the scales, visit to the Norton’s, and I should be in business.
The translucency of those scales really compliment that blade! Congrats on taking the gamble and scoring Keith. Very nice.
Thanks guys It shows that pictures make a huge difference on the selling price on some of these items. The listing photo (below) doesn't actually tend to reel in a buyer. Of course this one really isn't very photogenic!
So I have definitely slipped down the hole! Just recently picked these up off EBay. Didn’t think I would win them all but I did. Lost out on a couple other I would have liked to have had though. Probably paid too much, but seemed like what they were going for. Idk I like them. Sending them straight to Glen to take care of for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks like you bought those from John. He’s reputable, and puts a decent edge on his razors. Congrats!!
Looks like the Dubl Duck came from Johnloc. The other 2 were different people Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am unsure of the origin of this guy. Anyone have any ideas? It looks to be faux ivory, I think, and it has the Shakespeare etch that I have seen around some. I guess I wonder if it is a legitimate shaver or if it is a vintage prop if you will. We’re those produced back in the day? There is no information other than the etch. Little more research and it looks like George Butler produced a fair amount of razors that look almost identical to this one but would it have been unusual to not have a razor labeled like this one? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
