  1. Ugh. Impossible to catch up. Please send a memo through Nate if there is anything that needs my attention.

On another note we should ban the Shavette Fu's.

  2. Congrats on an epic shave Chris!

I think you'll merely endure a week with Williams. ;)

  4. Thank you, gentlemen! Clint, the beechwood tub does look pretty on the countertop; an airtight screwtop tub is more practical for keeping the soap in good shape while stored though.

  5. Yeah, I've decided to treat the boar like a synthetic and use it accordingly. So far (one use) that seems to be working well.

  7. Nice shave early this morning. (Working day shift) P-1 SA was great with the Dorco (Dollar General) I gave the Williams a rest and used Tabac with the Horse reknot. Veddy nice. The Horse is about defunked and breaking in nice. Finished up with Clubmsn Musk.

  8. That WAS a rave about the high quality of Williams... Or as good as it's going to get for one... It's all downhill from here...

  10. Now that the month is well underway, I have just hit on a focus for it -- TSD. Last month was Jeeves January and I used four Jeeves soaps and three splashes through most of the month. I also have four TSD soaps (Bay Rum, Lavender, Sandalwood and Sensitive/Unscented) and two milk aftershaves (Lavender and Sandalwood). I will use them exclusively (well, as exclusively as I ever get) for the rest of the month for a TSD February.

Razors and brushes will continue to be as the whim strikes me.

  12. That sounds like a great focus. @Douglas Carey started a Shave Den Sunday SOTD thread that went on for a long time that could always be revived as well.

A warm but rainy messy morning here at the homestead. Seemed like a great morning to use some vetiver soap. I decided to go with Mystic Water Vetiver & Oakmoss. The scent is earthy and smokey rounded out by the oakmoss which I find very enjoyable. This is the new formula of Mystic Water soaps reported to be easier to lather than the old formula. I have never had an issue with either formula. My trick has been to really load the soap and add water slowly. When I do my part MW soaps produce a rich slick lather with excellent post shave feel. If I were forced to pick one artisan soap, MW would be the only one in the den. The Gem Damaskeene OC is a cool little razor that remains my favorite vintage razor on looks and performance. Three passes and touch ups had me at my normal near perfect shave. With time on my hands, I buffed out my lower right neck reeling the baby in for the finish. A splash of Fine Fresh Vetiver provided the perfect end to an epic shave. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

  15. Great B&W photo, Clint! I have never tried Mystic Water soaps but after all your enthusiastic reports I may have to -- next year when my NB'18 is over...

  16. The OC Dammy really is an awesome razor. Do you find that the curved head helps any? Some say it does some say just cosmetic.

    Simpsons CH2 Synthetic brush
    TSD lavender lanolin soap
Alum and TSD Milk Aftershave Lavender

First shave of my new TSD focus. This is nice soap. I'm not sure why I left it stored away in a box under my sink and ignored it for so long...

  19. MW Soaps can be difficult to lather. This is especially so for people with hard water. I found the real trick is loading enough soap before starting to lather.

  20. Nailed it again. The ivory background and theme really set off the razor. I am so happy not to be in collecting mode. If not your photos would have me ordering a black Supply Co razor.
