Day 2 with the SC. Whipped up the usual fantastic Jeeves lather and had a smooth 3 pass shave, with the 3rd pass ending up being rushed/semi-aborted. A little left on the lower neck, but still quite acceptable.
A few folks have commented on a comparison between the NEW SC and LC. Even though the heads are not the same, in addition to the comb, I don’t find the SC more efficient than the LC. I may need more time to get it completely dialed in though. Alum felt like alum. Went Adam-style with a little witch hazel as well.
    Have a great day all!

  4. Thank you, Bruce and Clint!
  5. I'll say this about my WSP soap-it sure does take a lot of shaves before you see a consistency of suds. Maybe depends on brush strength? With those small pucks, when you swish with force, the possibility arises of soap flying all over the bathroom. All that being said, it's a nice soap.

  6. March Madness shave number 1. Initial thoughts, I like the feel of this Leopard shavette compared to other shavette I have held. The head is narrow like a 5/8 Straight, although the cutting edge is shorter. It has a very similar balance to a straight. Chris sent two types of blades, but I picked the Sharks because I have always found them a little stiffer and easy to use in a DE. Did my normal three pass shave, but a little slower to mind the tips. Had four weepers on my chin, where I used too much pressure on the ATG pass. Face was a little irritated when I put the last round of soap on for my third pass, and the Alum was warm. By the time I finished with the Witch Hazel and aftershave, only one weeper was still bleeding. Did have a mishap when making lather though. Over all, not a bad shave, CCS, with some irritation.

  9. If it's catching, try adjusting the angle. For Straights, the goal is 2-3 spine widths from the face. I seemed to go a little higher with the shavette today, and that seemed to cause irritation.

  10. Angle strength is what gets me all the time I've used my 65-Slim. Tough to deal with.

  11. Happy Friday, Jason! Great photo and a good report. I will be interested in your thoughts on the New SC vs LC when you've used it enough to feel you have it dialled in.

  15. There's nothing wrong with soap going everywhere! My lathering often makes it spill over the edges of the container, and the face lathering sometimes causes soap to flick onto the mirror. No harm, just wipe it up.

I will say that when some suds flow over the edge in a runny style then the lather was way too wet. Not always the case but often so.

  16. Good suggestion about the lather being too wet at times. It's a challenge though, as I like to wet my brush"a little bit" before going in,.

  18. While unpacking yet another box of shaving stuff, I found this puck that was PIFed to me by @Bamasamurai just prior to my move. I broke it out this morning and had a very nice shave. Good stuff. Thank you Chris!

Baxter of California Shave Tonic and ASB

Great first shave with the Ikon SBS AKA Mjolnir that @jmudrick enabled me into. This razor head is massive and weighty, paired with the stainless steel IB halo handle this razor come in at a whopping ~4.1 oz, luckily you don't have to be as strong as Thor to lift it. I did three passes with the SBS, the first with the open comb side and the second two with the safety bar side. On the aggressive side of the base plate this razor features a substantial blade gap with plenty of exposure. There was definitely more blade feel on the open comb side but neither side felt harsh and even with a well used blade I was able to pull off a DFS+ shave with no irritation or touch up. I started feeling a little head cold coming on yesterday so I used the Baxter Shave Tonic followed up by the ASB to help clear the air ways (both contain a healthy dose of menthol and the Tonic has a good bit of eucalyptus). Have a great weekend my friends!

    And TGIF!!!
