I've muted corners on the longer Weck shavette blades, too. It's a thicker steel of the SE type. No fun dipping a heel or toe either way.

I do tend to stay within the friendly confines around here, but that's an issue of lack of time more than anything. I appreciate the link and have visited and given my thumbs up. After all, if the 30DC Czar can't hang out in rooms where Russians are king, where can he hang out?

On my high school grad night, I went to pick up my grad date in my ‘72 Cougar convertible. I pulled up in the ‘red sled’ and was chit chatting with her dad about the car when she appeared at her front door with her mom. Her smile turned to a frown and she turned and walked back inside. Her mom came and whispered something to her dad who sheepishly walked over to me and said ‘Her hair will get ruined in the convertible, Karen and her mom would ask that you put the top up’. It was our last date.

    MAYhem 2018!!!!!

    May 23

    Razor - Simplex
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Stirling Electric Sheep
    Brush - Jayaruh #54
    Post - Alum

I took the handle from my Gillette Old Style and switched it to the Simplex. Grabbed the Zapped Mutton soap since I haven't had the pleasure for awhile and the JR54. Fantastic lather. The mutton tallow really has a great feel to it. Especially after the shave.

The longer handle does make a difference, though the razor will never be in my top 5 list. It's a decent shaver, actually pretty darned good for one out of a vending machine and would be a good choice for travel/camping. A basic setup/minimalist would be a good fit as well. The finish was a decent DFS with no blood thanks to the longer handle allowing me to not overthink and over adjust like last night. No complaints and it's a fun one to play with.

Speaking of basic/minimalist setups - we had a discussion awhile back about a month dedicated to the "cheap gear". You know - starter stuff. Basic setups. We have just over a week to go in MAYhem and I am declaring "Just the Basics June"! Should be fun to see what we all can bring to the den for a month of basic/starter/cheap shaves. June is a good month to go back to the basics as it's 6 months from Decadent December! Another week and a day of bringing the MAYhem before we get there so let's keep it coming!

What color was your '76 Granada? Mine was "burnt umber" if I remember correctly. Loved that car.

Evening Gentlemen, I had a three yea old year to contended with tonight during the shave tonight and managed to get another incredible DFS+, with the Rockwell 6c and the Rapira Platinum Lux. I'm loving the blade so much I just bought hundred off Amazon. I tried a new soap this evening Cella, it possesses a deliciously sweet scent, which I absolutely love. Whipped a nice, slick creamy lather, which performed exquisitely, with a phenomenal post shave feel. I know the artisan soaps are all the rage, but the more I use these Old European staples, the more I enjoy them, more than the artisan stuff I have accumulated, opinion always subject to change after I try Declaration, Wholly Kaw, and Tallow and Steel. Used my original Fendrihan synthetic brush with the black handle, which my daughter found this morning, it whipped lather like a champ, so glad to have it back in the rotation. And Jen was working tonight so finished with a healthy splash of Aqua Velva Ice Blue. Hope everyone has great Thursday.

Whell, that's what I'm suspecting with the razor, not exactly broke, but not 100%. The blade shows to much play just before tightening it, the sender guidance is a bit loose. (3 other razors en-route, of which 1 brand new)

    It didn't end well.

    Detour Week Day #4
    Razor : Barbarossa Bros Ottoman
Blade: Feather (mistake should have loaded this with an Astra)
    Soap: Arko
    Brush: Rocky Mountain
    Balm / Aftershave : Speick

Two nicks, a weeper and for some daft reason did an extra bit on my neck so a small rash patch - brain was in neutral this morning. Post shave remedials fixed everything however and a couple of hours later I look fine.

    The longevity count so far
Merkur Futur - 3 pass shave and clean up lasted well to about 5pm, by later evening growth coming through. Post shave alum felt good.
Muhle R41 -3 pass shave and clean up, felt good up to abut 7ish. Post shave alum a bit tingly in places
Merkur 33C - 3 pass shave. Lasted to 5sih maybe a little longer. Post shave alum was spot on
Ottoman - 3 pass shave but had a Feather in this one instead of Astra. Brainfail on my part. Post shave alum = stingy in places lol, sure woke me up. I'll re-run this one with an Astra at the end of the cycle.

Great shave and photo Jim. I use Thayer’s unscented witch hazel ordered from Target online. No issues clashing with aftershave or cologne.

A busy day around the homestead today. With Maya's graduation tonight, we have family and friends coming in this afternoon. For me that means a short day at the office and then home to make sure everything is ready. A nice relaxing shave is the perfect way to start the day. Fortunately the hardware and software delivered the goods. The Soapy Science was easy to load and lather. Taking my time adding water yielded a very slick and protective lather. I really enjoy the citrus scent. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near perfect shave. The post shave feel from the soap is some of the best I can recall. A splash of witch hazel followed by F&C Capri and I am ready for the big day. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.
