Thank you, Bruce! I don't get too many questions anymore, since I have been at it for a couple of years now. Today was probably a good one to have a tub, as there were not a lot of people who showed up at 5:00 this morning. I had expected a little inquiry, but there was none. A year or so ago, an older gentleman asked me quite a bit about it, and it seemed he was pretty interested. I haven't seen him around too much, so I never found out if he converted or not.
Great Cinco de Julio shave, Adam! With all the firefighting training I have had lately, your other pictures make me want to go grab some hose!
Excellent post, Joseph! I had to try a similar tactic when using the Supply injector. I had to watch the razor head to keep a proper angle. Not intuitive, as you say. Glad you got some good results!
That's why we're all here, Joseph. It's amazing what we can learn from each other even after our technique is solid. I'm always looking for that 'one new thing' that will help me improve my technique. You and @jluc have helped me today. Thanks!
Know what you mean. Cleaned more then a few like that myself. My jig pole thinks I died I think. Work will slow down soon I hope.
My town of 4500 people had 5 fireworks tents this year. In KS, fireworks can only be sold from July 1 through midnight July 4th. They can only be used during the same time period. 9pm on the fourth is like a war zone. You can't drive a car down most of the streets, half the car alarms in town are going off, dogs and children are cowering from the noise, and you don't need a flash to take pictures outside. When you wake up on the 5th, the entire town has a haze of gunpowder scented smoke over it. Good times.
Thanks Perry. Took some real concentration. I never though that social media would be something I would go in for, but TSD and all of you terrific shavers make it worthwhile. Jim, I wonder what the heck I have been looking at for the last half decade??? Probably my beautiful kisser...
Deer flies are the worst. I used to live in the northern part of the province and when it was too hot for the mosquitos, the deer flies and black flies came out. Deer flies use Muskol as aftershave.
July 5, 2018 Razor: Canadian Pre-War Tech Blade: Dorco Prime Platinum (3) Brush: Semogue 620 Boar Soap: VdH Luxury Post: Alum, Listerine, WH No Cinco de Julio shenanigans to see here, move along... I ended up not shaving yesterday. The most patriotic I ended up being was an online discussion of the Ee'd Plebnista and other Yang worship words. Today was my second shave with the pre-War Canadian Tech and it was just as nice as the first one. OTOH, I'm just not sure that I like the VdH Luxury soap. There's something about the scent that is not working for me. I'll finish this puck at some point, but will probably just PIF the extra one that I have somewhere down the line. I really wish I could find the Deluxe locally.
July 5th 'Cinco de Julio' 2018 Popsicle Stick Special w Nacet Stirling Gin and Tonic TGN Finest Fan Thayers Florida Water I thought that I'd kept my 2017 Popsicle stick/staples/white hockey tape July 5 razor, but couldn't find it anywhere. Went with a skinny stick/Nacet/CA glue/Duct tape model this year. Got one decent pass (one minor cut from a bad angle) from it and then finished off with the Schick E3. Using the CJB Kami for 20 shaves earlier this spring made this much easier than last year, I think. My neck does feel a little raw a few hours later, but all in all, I'd call it a success. Have a great day all!
Today was shave #3 on the Rex Ambassador. I'd take a picture, but it'd be censored because the thing is so freakin' sexy. Regardless, it shaves as good as it looks. It's a really heavy razor so the weight of the razor easily does all the work with no pressure needed. This morning, I hardly needed to shave because of how close yesterday's shave was. Is it possible for a razor to shave a little bit "too good"?
Is the blade glued in, or just the tape on the sticks holding it in? Good job on the shave, glad to see I wasn’t the only lemming.
