    Durham Duplex
    Personna Pathology Blade
    Wilkinson Sword Shave Stick
    Satin Tip The Purest

Last week I received this Personna Pathology blade in the mail from Fuzzy @wchnu . Decided to give it a shot this morning along with the Wilkinson Sword shave stick. I proceed to apply a thickish layer of soap from the stick and then began painting in water with my brush until it transformed from the thick paste into a thin translucent soapy film. I then began to agitate the brush on my face to build the lather, adding in even more water as i went. I ended up with a creamy shiny lather that was a bit on the goopy side. It was kinda interesting using the DD and you kind of have to constantly figure out what side to shave with as you cant just flip it around like a straight. The blade was honestly a lot better then I though it would be, and did provide a nice CCS after two passes. It would have been a closer shave with a straight, but it was a fun shave nonetheless. Thank you Fuzzy for opportunity to try the Duplex!

Nice photo! There's an open comb razor for ya. I have gotten good results from the Wilkinson Sword shave stick. I rub it in and then wet the brush and push the brush down to splay all around my face to energize the soap. Then add more water and begin to vigorously face lather. Works well.

The one, the only Durham Duplex! Nice to see one make an appearance during OCtober! I have one but not sure I have a blade for it. It's definitely a blast from the past! :happy088:

This shave represents not only the OCtober focus, but also my "Vintage Soap" thread.

There's been a lot of favorable talk abut vintage Old Spice shave soap, so naturally, I wanted to use it, and I'll report my results here.
After wetting the top of the puck with about a teaspoon of water whilst showering, I took my "soap eater":
Rubberset 400/3 with the Omega 49 (25mm x 63mm) boar knot, and began to load.
    Approximate load-time: 45-60 sec.

Rather than face lather, I chose to use my Aesop SS bowl, to facilitate photos.
I worked the lather for a total of 2+ minutes, twice squeezing out the breach and adding some water.
    Final results:

Pictures speak for themselves...but only the shave counts.
Results were exactly what I expected.
    Nice and smooth.
No dragging (fresh Personna Medical Prep)
    No nicks.
    No irritation.
    Excellent post-shave.
Finished a wonderful shave-experience with, what else?
A healthy splash of vintage Old Spice. :happy088:

Went with Lime for today's shave. K Shave Worx Florida Key Lime Oud soap, The Shave Den Lime Witch Hazel, and Stephan Island Lime aftershave. This soap is the only brand I have seen that recommends putting a thin layer of water on the soap for 5 minutes or so to soften up the top layer. Went for round two with the Cooper Monobuilt. I forgot to soak the interior with oil, or to cut the blade down to see if that helped. It still didn't close quite right, but was closer. Did three passes, had only minor irritation, and no weepers this time. Each of the three lime products had a different scent, which was kind of weird. The soap was sweet key limes, but not candy sweet, with a hint of earthiness from the Oud. The Witch Hazel was lime citrus, with no sweetness. The aftershave was cologne with a lime opening. It all worked pretty well together, for a good shave. DFS plus, but some irritation persisted.
