SOTD May 24th Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap EDRIO #68 Unbranded French hoe EDRIO #69 Gillette Milord Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (6) Simpson's CH2 Synthetic "The Soap Destroyer ( 27mm, Destroyer Class) Mike's OCBP Myrsol Lemon AS Wonderful shave this morning. Took a break from my knot trials to show some love to my CH2. Soused and super gooped the Mike's: Painted the super shiny slick lather on my face and took two strokes with the French Hoe, nope, the blade was very dull and tuggy. Picked up the Milord and proceeded to have an amazing smooth three pass shave that ended near BBS. Finished with the Myrsol Lemon to keep the citrus vibe going. Have a great Friday and a fantastic Memorial day weekend. TGIF! Sent from my Galaxy using Tapatalk
Thanks Andrew. I will air it out some more. It lost a lot of it yesterday. It was grated, on a plate and covered with a towel on the carport all day yesterday. Looking forward to the link if you can find it.
TGIF!!! Great pics, Andrew! Logan looks like he's having a great time! Yup, that's the wet looking lather I look for. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Thanks Jim! It's hard for my to get lather this consistency when face lathering which is why I like to bowl lather most of the time. Sent from my Galaxy using Tapatalk
O.K., I ain't going there but that was an excellent shave for the books. That little Chubby whipped up some nice lather. Logan is growing up too fast! Enjoy the times you will turn around and he will be grown.
May 24th EJ 89 w Astra SP (1) Valobra Fougere Omega Pro/ Walnut and Brass Thayers Barrister's Reserve Fern AS Went with the 89lbl again earlier this morning. I pulled out the Valobra Fougere and the Omega knot produced a wonderful lather with it. Kind of a 'Meh' light scent, but nothing off-putting at all. A fresh blade in the razor and 3 passes later I am quite smooth. Just a notch below a few of my other razors for results with 3 passes and no additional buffing, but still an enjoyable shave. Finished with the Fern, which gets lost following Felce Aromatica but does just fine after the Valobra. I'm leaving work a few hours early this afternoon and driving out of province to coach this weekend, but will hopefully have a chance to get caught up on the thread as well. Have a great day all!
Wonderful photo and post Joseph. I have often wondered about the Lavanda Puig so thank you for the description. Now I have something else to add to my list.
Wonderful shave photo and lineup Andrew. Love the "Soap Destroyer" TGIF indeed. Logan always seems to have a smile. He is growing up so fast.
I'm starting to settle in to about a 20 soap rotation. About the same number of splashes. It seems to be a happy medium for me between getting bored and never getting to some products. One or two may get swapped out. I've actually moved a few of my vintage Gillettes and a few of my brushes out this month- a Flare Tip to my father in law and a birth year adjustable to my best friend for his 50th, which has me down to 18 razors. One or two more may go soon. The 12 brushes I now have seems like a good number. I think I am solidly 'one in, one out' these days.
