  1. Thank you Jim!
Thank you times two Clint! The instructions and materials I used were from another site. They didn't do it at all. This link is much more comprehensive and includes vinegar - a mild acid - that should speed up the process. I'll wager Joe @Trigger understands the reason this works.

Randy, I'm not sure if it's simple addition, multiplication, or if we've reached Algebra Territory.
E₁ + E₂ = Twice Enabled and that might be less than E₁ X E₂ . When you get all busy with brackets ... (E₁ + E₂) (C2H6O) = New Gear
  2. :)
  3. Great looking shave Charlie. I managed to get in a full pot of coffee this morning. I am not sure I could manage 2 pots. It is hot and humid here too.
  4. Sounds like an all around terrific day, Charlie!

  5. Robert, that is a fine shave.
  6. My hat's off to you, Paul. Sudoku puzzles drive me nuts. If I had to pick a favorite puzzle, it would be the Daily Jumble. They provide light mental exercise and a smile when you complete the surprise answer. During the move, I ran across a large book of them someone had given me years ago. I used to keep it by my beside and found it was great way to relax before bed. I need to get back to them. They are addictive once you get started.
  7. Charlie, very nice shave!
  8. Thanks gentlemen. I appreciate the kind words. It was a relaxing day for sure.

Clint, our pots are only 48 ounces. You can get four large cups out of a pot, and I had help drinking the coffee. ;) I drink a lot less coffee now than during my working days.
  9. Proraso Green? Not mosquitoes. Maybe beetles and koala bears. And Mojito drinkers.

  11. The simplified answer is that aluminum is more reactive than silver. If you look up Chemical Activity Series, the higher up the metal is in the column, the more reactive it is.
  12. Glad I could help out Charlie.
One should always have a spare.

  14. Wonderful shave and photo, Doug. I'm sorry you've had a rough week. Hope things get better soon. Congrats on seeing Lilah off to the prom this evening.
  15. Thanks Patrick!
  16. Thanks Terry. I've got a few different spare razors. :D
  17. That's wonderful advice, Terry. I bet you are a great teacher.

Another good piece of advice is that you never fail until you stop trying. Thomas Edison said, "I didn't fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps."
  18. Duty is different based on the item and on the value. I rarely have to pay anything when the value is less than a hundred or so. Only one exception I can think of, and it was a used razor for Pete’s sake.
Customs agents are probably the same everywhere...
  19. One of the perks of being a Mod - If I see something that needs attention I deal with it. When someone presents an idea or task as a Tutorial I can get it "Stickied" to keep it at the top of the forum or subforum, or move the whole discussion to the Tutorial forum. Honing is a complex task and each person has their ways. For the Pros that do it for money, they can expect a return on their investment so buying multiple stones is just business. If / when you feel you've collected enough data and experience please share! Either as you go or in one lump honing with film is the inexpensive path and I'm curious. You have the Teaching background that could make it a good thread.
That's my method. Not often do I seek out gear. Many times the new acquisitions present themselves for my approval and purchase.
    ;)
