Thanks Gary. It has a cracked handle like many ball ends, but still shaves great.

I do not find my Damaskeene extremely mild, that said I find it mild on the mid range scale if that does not confuse things to much.

One of my favorite French razors and one of the few I've had restored. OCtober is a good a reason as any to use this one. This razor is also an adjustable like you would need to since it is typical of French razors and is like a fillet knife on it's least gap setting. The cage has some flex to it so depending how far you tighten down the handle it will change the blade gap. Because the way the cap sits you also have a blade exposure adjustment. You can either load it with both blade edges symmetrical or asymmetrical with one side have more exposure and the other less than when loaded symmetrical.

Shave was with the blade gap symmetrical and handle fully tightened down for the lowest gap setting. This razor at this setting very efficient and sharp. With a mild touch you can get a BBS finish with little irritation and almost no weepers.

OCtober 9th- I have been eyeing my Gillette old type that I acquired back last yr and have used it a few times since. I bought it with a _bay lot , you know when you come across a well liked razor that the previous owner cherished from the wear of the top cap plate. Almost all the Nickel has disappeared and the bottom plate is almost pristine & not a bent tooth with no dents so he enjoyed this one, also I had to replace the (paper) wedged Gillette ball type handle with a (spare)Gillette Tech handle. I usually get a weeper or two from this razor but it gives a close shave and is more a upper mid range for aggression razor IMO.

    Razor : Gillette old type-MFG 1920's + a Tech handle Mfg-1940's
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (4)
Soap : Nivea sensitive shave cream
    Brush: Yaki Tuxedo knot 24mm+
Pre shave: Wet the face + Aloe vera gel on beard area only
Post shave: Alum + cold water rinse
Post shave: Razorock Blue barber with witch hazel + Nivea cool kick balm
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + Alum indicated some irritation + 1 chin weeper = [IMG]
