Thanks, it shaves as good as it looks imo.
Also the design allows me to test out my theory that blade exposure doesn't mean a lot in Gem bladed razors.

A better Shave today by employing a varied range of cutting angles which do not come to me easily. Pretty sure that this will not be a favourite of mine.

 

Schick Type D, Personna blade, shave 2.


What a difference a blade makes with this razor for me anyways. I couldn't get a BBS shave out of this razor with a Proline but switch to a Personna the shave goes to an almost glass like BBS finish. That settles that why the razor was under performing for me. Water wasn't the issue after all but the blade.

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The "AMBRE" Shaving Soap face lathered well with Jayaruh #380 Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the Gem Jr. Bar Lather Catcher razor with a Vintage GEM Cutlery SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Aqua Velva Musk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

I finally tried out the adapter screw a friend sent me. I like longer handles and the one that came with the Ever-ready 1914 is a reasonable length but it was fun to try something a little longer. The shave was great from the 1914 and the Shick Eversharp. And the lather was wonderful from the SHD two band badger and Mer Shavings fougere orange donkey's milk soap.

 

Schick Type E1, Personna blade, shave 3.


This is a pretty smooth razor I want to say it is similar but not the same as the 2nd variant as shown below in this thread. Tomorrow's shave will determine if it is or is not. Either way it is definitely not like any other Type E variant that isn't the 2nd or best of the lot that I've used so far.
