Wilkinson Sword Pall Mall, Wilkinson wedge / gem stainless ptfe blades, shave 1

Razor on loan from @twhite . I would like to state that this man is not only a bad influence but down right evil. I don't know how he does it but he got me to agree to try some off the beaten path SE razors and not only that but shave ready wedge blades without twisting my arm or protesting otherwise.

This razor is an adjustable in that the guard can be adjusted in or out changing the blade exposure. I decided to go full out with the guard adjusted for max blade exposure. At the right angle with that setting this razor is a sevette, all blade and no guard. First half of the shave was with the wedge blade which was very sharp but tugged too much and didn't cut enough. After 3 passes of that I switched over to the Gem blade. The Gem blade cut much better but was still bit tuggy. End result was weeper free but some serious post shave burn from shaving full blade total of 8 passes which included the redo passes with the Gem blade. Finish was BBS also but not much better than Razorock Hawk V3 open comb which I used prior.

Next shave will be with the guard adjusted the opposite way for minimal blade exposure.

Sounds like it needs to be stropped more the wedge blade that is. Give it a good 100 laps.

I shall do just that and give it another go but not until I get the razor dialed in a little better with the Gem blade.

    Thanks. Great shaver!
I’m always on the lookout for the others to go with my blue one.

BLUE. I've not seen a BLUE baton handle.
I have two slightly different black Batons and really want a Red.
Could you post a picture of the blue.
Or is that the blue. Just a very dark blue?

Just playing around a bit with today's shave and ended up with a near BBS as a result.
Arko on my SHD two band badger provided plenty of slick cushiony lather. Oh and a hearty dose of chill came from some sterling frost drops.

This one is the blue one (navy). It’s not as noticeable in the picture though.

@Ron R and I were talking about a realization @Droo78 had about the Gem Featherweight.
I just looked and I have a G1 Featherweight Deluxe and a G2 brown handled Featherweight. I never really noticed the differences.

Looks like my next shave will be a side by side comparison.

I need to break in a new PTFE blade, so I may go with one of the Featherweights tomorrow too.
