Thank you for your insights, Blair. Another wise gentleman on this thread already recommended that I use Glen Mercurio for the honing.
Whichever I choose for the home honing setup, it will be a minimalist approach. The Dubl Duck - PearlDuck strop that I have has a linen side as well, although it looks like it could use a bit of washing. I have since used a leather conditioner to try to clean up the leather side. I actually posted about it here back when my neighbor gave it to me and I received a few useful responses.

 

That's a shame.
Mine is out for delivery. The only hurdle now is that it gets delivered to the right house.

Regarding your delivery, I have a semi-funny story. While I was waiting for one of my last deliveries, the tracking showed delivered. I was furious (as I have had a couple this year not make it to my address). I saw a FedEx truck driving in the neighborhood, so I ran out to flag him down. When I made my inquiry, he said he was new to the neighborhood, but he had only made one other delivery about 8 houses down from me and it was a big electronics box. While I was talking with him, another FedEx truck pulled up the hill towards us. It was the correct delivery truck with my package in hand. He said he was delivering my package to another address about a mile away, but realized as he was walking to the door, he had the wrong package for that house and had already scanned it as delivered. So, luck was in my favor that day...

 

Looks like you did. That's awesome. My strays over into the SR section are few and far between....time issue .

Minimalist approach works.

You could also search out some of the experiments that have been done over the years for maintaining a SR edge with no hones at all. All stropping. If you want details...they are out there.

Results: ~10 years ago, maybe more, Glen went ~80+ shaves (forgot which razor was used) with only stropping, and concluded one could go on indefinitely.

Another stropping only experiment was just 'paused' by Steve (here I believe is Steve56) with a Filarmonica. He paused at 150 shaves as he wanted to use more of his collection.

 

Andrew, old ladies are timeless, as are their leather purses!

Thoughtful commentary, Blair! My son, Ben, a very experienced straight shaver, said I could accomplish everything I needed with a jasper barber hone sized stone and a 320 grit DMT diamond plate. Although he said I could even do bevel setting, he suggested a Naniwa 1000 stone for that task. First honing lesson is later this afternoon. We’ll see.
