I have been talking to @PLANofMAN for a bit now. Working on some stuff for him. Anyhow he mentioned how he would like to see somebody produce an adjustable handle. I thought that was a way cool idea.

Well I had a bit of free time today, so I made one.
So there were 4 pieces to start. Here they are. The main base handle. Then the main secondary piece. It is the one with the long threads. Then 2 other spacers of various shape. After these pictures I actually made a thick 6mm washer not threaded. That can be interchanged.

    Here are a few configurations
    No spacers 57.5mm 50 grams

    Base plus secondary piece
    70.6mm 64 grams
    [IMG]
    Base secondary and short spacer
    78.2mm 70 grams
    [IMG]
    Base secondary and long spacer
    82.1 mm 72 grams

    Everything
    89.6mm 77 grams

I never said it was an "original" idea. :)

Tom, as usual, took an offhand comment, extrapolated and expanded on it and made another extraordinary addition to his growing protfolio.

I think shaving with each combination would be an interesting experience with the weight and length changes. I’m curious what happens to the balance point.

It changes. That was one of the purposes of this, to keep a specific balance point by shortening or lengthening the handle.

I suppose Tom could make a handle with some Mercury inside, just to create a variable weight razor as the mercury slid around, though that would be a borderline prank.

one could build a telescoping version with a lock nut like the window squeegee's have..:)

Cool, Tom! I can only guess what you will think up (or be inspired by) next.

Something with a laser level might be cool... or extremely dangerous. Win some, lose some, I guess.

Make a telescopic handle would be easier and as far as the balance hollow center with a metal slug that can slide back and forth as a counterbalance at all angles.

i am thinking the telescoping handle-the heavy lock nut in stays in the middle and have a solid heavy section in the bottom end of the handle.that way when it's extended its balance will stay the same or similar..

I have a few ideas. Checking into some Acme thread and nuts. Also multi lead rod to give a faster adjustment.
