Schick adjustable, vintage Schick Twin blade, shave 5


60s style adjustable injector razor used this time. This razor is also known as a M1 and can be dated for sure to only the 60s since these razors were only branded as dial razors on the sticker and cases from 1966 - 1969. That also puts this particular injector as only made by Eversharp unlike the ones called M3 adjustables which were produced by both Eversharp and Warner Lambert being produced from 1964 - 1966 and 1968 - 1973. As such it makes for a good comparitor with the M2 aka 7os style and the undesignated 80s style adjustable injectors. Razor was used on the highest setting like the other 2. Guard also didn't have as much gap on the highest setting as opposed to the other 2. Shave was also milder and noticeably less close but still as good as the Type N1. Even though this razor was never designed to use Twin blades unlike the 70s and 80s versions it works fine with one and perform admirably. End result BBS finish achieved.

Final conclusions.
These vintage Schick Twin blades are viable substitutes for modern Schick II Twin blades and are worth seeking out in unopened packages especially if they are priced lower than the modern versions which are very pricey at the moment.


As can be seen with the razors used there seems to be a linear progression from the 60s to 80s style adjustable in making them more aggressive on the highest setting with each revision.

Thanks Matt. Trying to keep it less cluttered for a change. The camera on my phone broke when I dropped it, so I have being using my DSLR the past few weeks. The photos are a bit softer when taking night shots without added artificial lighting. The lower f-stops give a shallower depth of field that soften the images. I just need to be careful that it doesn't get too shallow. Generally I prefer to use my DSLR for outdoors, landscapes, portraits, nature, and travel photos.

Finally getting around to using Leviathan. After seeing your SOTD a little bit ago, you pushed me over the edge to place the order. I just wish this year they offered the standard aftershave. I did not want to ordered the EDT without at least seeing how I liked the scent. Unfortunately the wife was not too excited about this one, but I like it.

I didn't print it myself. That was done by a 3d printing service. It was printed in transparent resin using SLA technology. Look up the acronym.
Roger Quintero developed this razor and more to be 3d printed. The files needed for 3d printing were posted on Thingiverse:

Thank you. I used SLA for work back in the 90's when it was just a very expensive tech for industry, but haven't used it lately. They used to mock up car suspensions for packaging reviews and used some materials that were toxic. I remember I accidentally broke all those brittle parts at one of the big three auto companies while doing some development on design aids, trying to compress and move the suspension, and upset a few folks! It is so cool individuals can have things printed today at reasonable prices, but never tried it or researched the companies myself that will do it. I need to check out the links. Nice razor.

Sunday Schick shave

Razor: Schick G injector Canadian version-Mfg late 1940's-early 50's, interesting razor with a E3 safety bar style with parallel groves. mid range<
Blade: Personna SS PTFE injector(5) very sharp blade with good longevity & smooths out over time.
Soap: CR Salter Indian Sandal wood- nice scent with great lather qualities.
Brush: Yaqi Timberwolf 24 mm knot- Excellent lather creator, nice scrub with cloud like soft tips, excellent synthetic brush IMO.
Pre shave : Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave: Witch hazel + Ogallala Bayrum & Sandal wood + a dollop of Nivea balm.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + 1 weeper = Excellent shave with my Canadian version of a Schick G1 injector.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want those glorious all-inclusive SOTD pics of yours to go away. I really really enjoy them. This one just caught me off guard for the extra artistic flair.

Whatever. All I know is that the photo looks great and has an appropriate moodiness that's not artificially filtered to death.

Leviathan is peculiar. Don't let your wife give up on it. My wife and I both hated it the first time I used it a few years ago. By the end of the day, I'd fallen in love with it as had she. It wasn't just the dry down being something vastly different than the opening stages. It was explained to me that our noses had "received an education". The authentic Russian leather, as you probably ascertained, has a fecal aspect to it. If you've spent any amount of time around some old leather bound books, you'll realize this is an accurate note (I'll save the reason for this for your own research). The coffee and sandalwood transform this throughout its phases. Now, I won't claim that everyone will love Leviathan given enough time, but I do suspect some people are turned off very early on and ultimately miss out on something they would otherwise quite enjoy. I will also say that fragrances of this type are highly dependent on one's body chemistry.

While the past two shaves got top marking, I was a little annoyed at the feel of them-not the scent, but the way it FELT....it was like shaving with sand, or should I say Barbershop-scented sand. I think owner Greg Smith made a wise decision to lose the Bentonite Clay and replace it with other ingredients. As I've said before, my other two Central Texas Soaps have the replacement, therefore I'm happy with those.
