Is that the 1906 SR? If so, I'd go with the cardboard boxes as those are closer to the original SHARP/DULL ones. Much more closer than the metal boxes.

A couple more orders. I have a brush handle being made, another being shipped, and I just dropped off at Razor Emporium for a refinish. I've pretty much exhausted my shaving budget for this month.

My 1938-1945 "early-war" USA Tech arrived today. It's in great condition. A few surface scratches and a very very tiny Dean on one end of the cap. Can't see it unless you are just really really looking for it.

As @PLANofMAN said in The almost sort of Comprehensive Guide to the Gillette Tech thread:

Most people call these the "Pre-War Techs," a term I take issue with, since WWII started a year after the patent was filed, and a few months after they hit full production. What is really meant by Pre-War, is Pre-American-Participation-In-The-War...but that's a bit of a mouthful, isn't it? Much easier and more accurate to just call them "Early-War Techs."

considering england never had a "tech"razor until a year after the war ended and the "PRE WAR"design was american and made before 1941...most folks call it that to help folks distinguish it between the triangular slot tech and the oval slot one when looking for an example.like the 46-8 fords.they were considered prewar design fords as well.;).Most gillettes weren't called what collectors call them.said names were more about easily found/understood differences between models ..england never had a flare tip,or an early rocket, just one piece razors for example, but folks still call them rockets..:)

I've got a La Toja shave cream and aftershave incoming. I recently pulled out the old Timeless blue lather bowl and have been revisiting my remaining shave creams. Now I'll be finishing up the last bits of Proraso Red shaving cream and aftershave to help me reconcile (in my mind) the purchase. Dreaded acquisitions disorder strikes again.
