Today was injector shave number two of my month long focus on injector razors. A secondary focus is breaking in my first animal hair brush, the Jayaruh 347 boar.
I recently purchased a NOS Schick Injector Twin razor, also known as a Type L. It's very satisfying to get to be the first one to use a new vintage razor.
I decided to try a cold water shave, my first on purpose at least. I'm originally from the Northeast so calling the tap water in Florida cold feels a bit disingenuous. Let's call it a cool water shave. It felt nice but I can't say it made any difference.
I can't say enough good things about Hendrix Classics & Co soaps. Very rich and thick at first and then hydrates just right as you add water. Their fragrances are strong and pleasant. The boar knot is just starting to soften and I can tell it's going to be magnificent once it's fully broken in. The length is perfect, short enough to splay and just long enough to have a touch of flop when it's heavy with lather.
The twin injector blade feels like the precursor to a modern multi blade cartridge. I mean that in the best possible way. I could feel both edges and it was a noticeably smooth and close shave. There was zero tug. Just smooth cutting. Three passes later I had an effortless BBS shave with one tiny nick I got from going too fast. I can see why people will pay a premium for these vintage twin blades or the new ones from Japan.
Thanks for reading and happy shaves!
