Thank you, Joe :). That's what shaves with Stoylin brushes, and Clubman, SHOULD be.

    January Focus Injector Shave #4

    Razor: Schick J
    Blade: sChick
    Brush: Yaqi 24 mm badger
Soap: Stirling Soap Co. - Stirling Green
    A/S: Brut
    IMG_20220104_194920968.jpg
To commemorate 10 years, Rod sent an email out today expressing gratitude to his customers, briefly recounting the humble beginnings, and the growth of Stirling Soap Co. As Stirling has been able to expand, he has been able to offer benefits to his employees including health insurance and paid time off. In honor of Stirling's success in treating not only his customers right, but also his valued employees, I broke open a fresh Stirling Soap tonight (and ordered some more).

As far as the injector focus: I am astounded by how wonderfully efficient this razor is. I was not expecting to, but I like this one equally as much as the G. I achieved a BBS smooth shave with absolutely no blood or irritation.

I moved another Stoylin soap closer to the lineup...I have one out for later this week.

Awesome shave Eric. Chick blades are excellent performers.

    January Injector Focus Shave #2
    Pre-shave: None
Lather: Hendrix Classics & Co Badass
    Brush: Jayaruh #347
    Razor: Schick Injector Twin NOS
    Blade: Schick Twin (1)
    Post-shave: Nivea Sensitive balm

    SOTD_2022-01-04.jpeg

Today was injector shave number two of my month long focus on injector razors. A secondary focus is breaking in my first animal hair brush, the Jayaruh 347 boar.

I recently purchased a NOS Schick Injector Twin razor, also known as a Type L. It's very satisfying to get to be the first one to use a new vintage razor.

I decided to try a cold water shave, my first on purpose at least. I'm originally from the Northeast so calling the tap water in Florida cold feels a bit disingenuous. Let's call it a cool water shave. It felt nice but I can't say it made any difference.

I can't say enough good things about Hendrix Classics & Co soaps. Very rich and thick at first and then hydrates just right as you add water. Their fragrances are strong and pleasant. The boar knot is just starting to soften and I can tell it's going to be magnificent once it's fully broken in. The length is perfect, short enough to splay and just long enough to have a touch of flop when it's heavy with lather.

The twin injector blade feels like the precursor to a modern multi blade cartridge. I mean that in the best possible way. I could feel both edges and it was a noticeably smooth and close shave. There was zero tug. Just smooth cutting. Three passes later I had an effortless BBS shave with one tiny nick I got from going too fast. I can see why people will pay a premium for these vintage twin blades or the new ones from Japan.

Thanks for reading and happy shaves!

:signs001: Joe. I have both the Merkur 37c & 39c in my den, both razors i find to be well balanced and give me consistent smooth comfortable shaves..I like to pair them together with a Voskhod TC blade, especially when i do a head shave. They are not my every day shavers but are excellent for mowing down a few days growth.

Wonderful Wednesday shave Eric. JR brushes lather soaps very well. I have a synthetic and Silvertip and I never had a problem lathering with them. Enjoy your day.

Thanks for asking, Myles! Had a minor stroke back in June, but otherwise not bad for soon-to-be 75. Nice tattoo! Enjoy your shaves.

Fabulous shave, Eric! If you're enjoying vintage injectors - I do as well - then you’d love a modern Supply injector. It's hands down, my favorite injector after my Type E. Enjoy your shaves!
