I have posted many shave photos with this brush, but here it was, right after getting it back from @Jayaruh Permission to join, SIRS!
I gifted a #3 and Handle to a member in the UK so just 2 handles now. 1 with no # waiting for time to be cleaned up, #4 with a Tuxedo. #3 needing a knot and then spare ferrels turned by @Clouds either with knots or awaiting knots.
Can you imagine trying to get a comfortable face-lathering with that #3???? Beautiful collection, Dave.
My 400 brush is one of the Murphy and Mcneil MM-400 with the removable ferrule.... I have NOT been able to get one of the rubberset 400 in my price range YET....
Honestly I really like the MM-400 brush. It is only available in black but thats fine personally... I do at one point want to get a rubberset 400 but with the price being so inexpensive for these and the fact that the knot seems like a pretty good one too , I am not really in a hurry.... I think the MM-400 ferrule is the same size as the rubberset 400 one so , I think the aftermarket ferrules "would" probably work on the mm400 so technically someone could have different heads set up with different knots and just switch the "Head/ ferrule" out to use various different types or sizes of knots..
Are the Rubberset 400 #3 handles not desirable anymore?? I just saw two passed on, in bidding. One for $30 and one for $34. One handle was in pretty good shape. I thought about bidding, but I already have a Rubberset 400, B-400(@twhite ), and a RazoRock 400. Unknown if they are to be put up again. Correction, the $30 one was sold for $30, with only one bidder.
Oops. I guess I missed seeing that or I would have bid on it !! That's in the range I have been looking for . I can't believe I didn't see that !!
i am finally a member with my newly acquired rubberset 400-3.loveingly restored and reknotted by our Keith.. @Enrico
Rubberset 400-(No Number) The knot is toast, but the handle is very very nice. No dents, No wear, No pitting, No cracks. Just some tarnish that should buff out, without sanding. The plus to the entire thing is that the knot is already loose, and the ferrule twists off easily.
I plan to restore it, and put in a knot that is more traditional looking. I have a couple of knots on the way. One that is synthetic, and a fan shaped boar. Here is a thread I have, for restorations of Rubberset 400's. https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/rubberset-400-restoration-projects.66543/
