I also enjoyed the book. I live in Washington State, and I worked in Seattle before retiring to my current town 70 miles north of the city. So everyone here thinks of this as a local story. I say all that as background because we went to see this movie at a restored historic theater that was packed on Friday night with older people! It was an enthusiastic audience. When the UW team won races in the movie, the audience was cheering and applauding as if they were attending a real sporting event!
Oppenheimer… well the first 40 minutes anyway. It was disjointed & boring, How to Make a Monster -on Svengoolie. This was much more fun.
This silent film was the best picture from 1927, restored in 2012 with newly composed orchestral music. A good film. The aerial dogfights were intense and the WW1 battles on the ground were impressive.
This morning I saw Dan Curtis' Dracula, at least until I got bored & gave up. This was disappointing, to say the least . To say the most, the pace was plodding & Jack Palance, as Dracula, was as wooden as the stake he would eventually receive.
