Today is the last day of the lunar year and is one of the biggest holidays in Korea. To end the year the donut of death is making an appearance in the C&S and we had a snow day. To wind up the last two days of the year were on the left an Atlas almost wedge Japanese steel razor and finished the year with the big 8/8 1/4 hollow Osiris blade. Knize Ten was projecting great in walk through the wintery park, it seems to travel even farther in the cold air.
Tuesday, January 28 Fine L'Orange Noir~~dubl duck #2~~2011 Mühle R41/Feather~~Vintage Balenciaga Pour Homme I guess I am treating this thread---in addition to its 3017 roots, as a quasi-30DC. The R41 with a Feather blade is kicking my ass. I can feel where the outermost layer of epidermis had been surgically removed on my left cheek from yesterday's shave. Never daunted, I picked it up again today and with the LIGHTEST of touches, managed not to exacerbate the sitch (sic) Finished with some vintage stank---reputed to have been the very first western stank to incorporate oud.
First shave in the year of the Snake. I decided to go with a few favorites, my favorite shavette, Tedalus loaded with Feather Pro blade and a top stank Musc Kublaï Khän. Seoul is empty so it safe to wear.
Wednesday, January 29 Stirling Solidus~~Semogue TSN Final Edition 1/50~~2011 Mühle R41/Feather~~1 Million Lucky This razor is really testing my technique. The Feather blade may not be the best choice, either. Got through it without any significant blood-letting, but believe-you-me, one misstep and there will be blood. Solidus is a Paco Rabanne Lucky dupe and a nice one at that. The reason I had to decant the stank is when I purchased it on Ebay, the seller stated, and I quote: "The atomizer works". Well, upon arrival, the atomizer did nothing but dribble juice into the case surrounding the bottle. Getting that thing open was a real chore.
I find the 2011 R41 to be very finicky about blades. I never use a Feather in my R41, I found it to be a terrible combination despite the fact Feathers work great in all my other DE razors. I use Super Iridium or Gilette Silver Blue. Feather bades in a 2011 R41 is just asking for blood.
