Saturday, June 29 Chiseled Face Civet~~Simpson "The Hive"~~Cobra Classic/Schick Proline~~Shulton Old Spice AS Fast 'n Loose has nothing on my new lathering technique. Picked up 3 bottles of vintage OS. 95% Full Burley Cologne 90% Full Lime Cologne This NOS aftershave. Scored a real deal.
Sunday, June 30 Chiseled Face Civet~~Kent BK8 Silvertip~~Wolfman WR1 .74 Ti/Sharp Star~~Lilac Vegetal This blade was on its last leg. Got a clean shave, but required some buffing. The Civet will soon be history. I will weigh it tomorrow. If you're looking for strong backbone in your brushes, the Kent is not for you. It is, however, supremely soft and if you're adept at creating lather, it gets the job done with aplomb. Even after cleaning my mug of soap with some Thayer's, the Veg delivered its scent with some refreshing sting.
I was planning on continuing my superlative steel theme but I caught a cold and then had some sinus issues. I am better now but while the sinuses were bad I went with DE shaves. Monday pre-sinus problems I did use one of my superlative razors, Takahana Feon, my first JWest razor. She takes and holds a fantastic edge, perfectly ground and she lie completely flat on the stones for the rare times I touch up this razor. For my DE shaves I used my 2011 R41 and a Joris. These are my two favorite DE razors. Since the 3017 thread is about finishing off product this week marked the end of my Cade aftershave balm. I will repace it when the weather turns cold again. I am slow making my way to the bottom of the Arlington but there are still a number of shaves to go.
Monday, July 1 Chiseled Face Civet~~Semogue TSN Final edition 1/50~~Gem Clog-Pruf/Gem~~Thor's Hammer Bay Rum w/Lime Pre-shave, there remained 7g of the Civet soap. The Semogue has a modicum of scrub/scritch. I am hoping it'll eventually soften up. The Gem blade was binned after the shave. Not sure how many shaves I got, but these blades don't seem to have the longevity of others. Finished with the Thor's Hammer. I give the juice a "B".
Tuesday, July 2 Chiseled Face Civet~~Simpson CH2 Synthetic~~1936 Gillette Aristocrat De Luxe/Sharp Star~~St Johns West Indian Lime Cologne We are down to the final shaves with the Civet. What a terrific soap. Thanks, again @Keithmax For a razor that is approaching 90 years of age, this Aristocrat looks like Catherine Deneuve in her prime. Yes...it's had a face lift. But a successful one, I must say.
I remember when you got your first facelift and couldn't stop smiling. It also raised a few eyebrows, as I recall.
Wednesday, July 3 Chiseled Face Civet~~SOC Boar~~'47 Super-Speed/Sharp Star~~Florida Water Another hot one today. The Civet isn't exactly a summer-scent... Luckily, the mentholated Florida Water is.
