I realize this was about a month ago but does Amazon still have the original formulation with tallow?

Kent soap is apparently the same as MWF. If anything for me it’s better because whereas MWF set my face on fire nothing like that happens to me when I use Kent.

What made MWF so good was the tallow and lanolin. Kent has lanolin but the magic ingredient is the tallow. And Kent does not have tallow but instead uses palm oil. MWF had tallow, then they changed the formula removing the tallow and replacing it with palm oil. And a short time later they were out of business. I'm after tallow based soaps as I have found them to have the best slickness bar none.

Mitchell’s and Kent were one and the same identical until M went veggie. Kent was cool about selling through their existing inventory of the tallow pucks before they began selling the new formula. It seems Kent still has remaining inventory of the veggie pucks. Wonder what they’ll do when they sell out?

Thanks Charlie. Is Kent stopping making shaving soap? Why would they stop making the veggie pucks? Did you mean to say the tallow pucks? I'm confused. :shocked029:

He said they sold out the existing tallow pucks before they starting selling the veggie pucks. They apparently still have veggie. He's curious what they will do when those sell out, if they decide to stop making soap altogether.

And in fact, now that Mitchell’s has ceased operations, Kent will need to find another supplier altogether.

Apparently they have done so, as they still sell shaving soap.

This post on The Shaving Room forum indicates they switched to another supplier at least a year ago:

It is surprising to see that the whole tallow vs. non-tallow silliness is still around. That's the Internet for ya! Judging by the accounts I have read of the new Kent soap, it is quite good and definitely priced right.

I've felt the same about Rise Superfoam cans since they are gone now(or well appear to be anyway).

If a pipe tobacco scent is mild, I wouldn't dress it up in any way.

I like tallow best, too, although I do have some 3x-milled ones(I find they look and FEEL like frozen pancakes....wouldn't say they SMELL like them, though). Tallow for me..
