Yes, but stanks take up less space than violins, repel flying insects, and impress the shoppers at Piggly Wiggly.
Tuesday, April 8 Vintage Williams~~Simpson 57 LE "The Douglas"~~1908 Gillette SR/Wizamet Iridium Super/Amouage Gold I cleaned up the Old Type after looking at yesterday's SOTD photo. That was embarrassing. Excellent lather and shave. The SR is a blade-forward tool. Can't accuse it of being too "mild". Classy stank to complete the shave.
Cobra Classic Tuesday, one of my favorite razors. A Rooney I bought a long time ago and finished of with a truly glorious stank, Serge Lutens Musc Koublaï Khan. On the wrist is a hand winding Grupo Gamma from Singapore with a swiss movement. The infamous 2011 R41 another favorite of mine was called out of the bullpen for today's shave. Yesterday and today the Trumper's performance seems to have fallen off , it is getting close to the end so maybe it is rebelling. This Brad Sears brush has just the right amount of backbone and I like the long handle so in an attemp to hasten the demise of the Trumper's I loaded it from the tub. Vintage Derby aftershave and modern Derby for the stank and on the wrist a day-date Seiko since I can't remember the day nor date.
I get the sense that 2/3 of your post(66%)refers to my favorites-Rise Super Foam (the flying insects)and Piggly Wiggly(no explanation needed on THAT baby). 2 outta 3 aint's bad, BUDDEH.(Course I never saw a connection between Rise and flying insect repellant until I joined here. That didn't bother me, I still loved(and love)Rise)
Wednesday, April 9 Vintage Williams~~Simpson "Rover"~~Gillette #44 RFB/Wizamet Iridium Super~~Swiss Arabian Dehn Al Oodh Malaki Staying the course with my Williams. Hope everyone is well.
Thursday, April 10 Vintage Williams~~Simpson Polo 8~~Gillette #44 RFB~~Rasasi Hawas Nothing to see here...move along.
Friday, April 11 Vintage Williams~~Simpson CH2~~Leresche #51/Wizamet Iridium Super~~Vintage Givenchy Gentleman The vintage Givenchy is my most gorgeous patchouli stank. Mos Def® NOT your head shop hippie version. The French DE was loaded with a Polish blade. The American shave soap was whipped to a frenzy and delivered masterfully by the British brush. It was an international affair.
Since international shipping has become almost impossible for stanks, sadly I don't think I will be able to acquire this one.
This Saturday was a rare shave for me, 2 days worth of stubble. I am a daily shaver because I don't like the feel nor the look of my almost all grey stubble. So I took a big heavy 8/8 Osiris blade, needs some top notch glide and protection on the face so Tabac got the call. One my favorite brushes a fine Thäter was selected. For the stank I went hard core with LM Parfums Hard Leather, it lives up to it's name, good thing I will not going in to public except for the store. On the wrist it smells like a MKII Cruxible.
Saturday, April 12 Vintage Williams~~Simpson CH2 Synthetic Badger~~Leresche #51~~ETHOS Bay Rum EdT The CH2 whipped up some terrific lather. I feel bad for the shavers that either never tried vintage Williams, or had lathering issues with it. I find it ultra-easy to lather and as a shave soap--as good as anything on today's market. The ETHOS Bay Rum gets a...3/5 stars. The atomizer sucks.
Sunday, April 13 Macduffs Alberta Boys~~Plisson 16 HMW~~Leresche #51/Wizamet Iridium Super~~YSL M7 A little variety for today's shave. Macduffs is an outstanding product. The 4-ingredient, vintage M7 is probably my #1 stank.
Back to work on the Trumper's and end is near. Hidden behind the Serge Lutens MKK is a Drake Certified brush which is a throw back brush and pared it with an OG razor, Wade and Butcher. A while a go I chipped one of my favorite razors, a Snail Forge Wootz steel clad in mammoth scales. I took a long time but I got the chip out and put a sweet edge on it. To celbrate I selected the Varlet brush. Feeling extra stanky so SMN Peau d' Espagne. For the watch afficianodos, a CW Aquitaine.
Tuesday, April 15 Ariana & Evans Chasing the Dragon (version 1)~~Abercrombie & Fitch Persian Ali Baba 2~~Leresche #51~~AoS Sandalwood EdT I recently purchased a puck of, what I thought was Chasing the Dragon (pictured above), however, I received Ariana & Evans new version. Seen on the right. Ingredient Lists: OG: Reformulated: Many changes. Results are perhaps a better base, but at the cost of a much more toned down scent. Anyone familiar with Chasing the Dragon, knows the scent. Strong, pungent, incense, ethereal. The new scent is...well, boring. Kind of citrus-forward. Very disappointing.
