    • Razor : Gillette Model 100 (Single Ring) Silver Plated Brass 1904. (USA)
    • Blade : Gillette Vintage New Blade (1) / Wizamet Iridium Stainless(1) (USA-Russia).
    • Brush : PAA Amber Aerolite 24mm Stygian Hybrid Synthetic. (USA)
    • Soap : TGS Shibusa. (Italy)
    • Aftershave : CK Eternity Splash. (USA)
    • Weight : 50 grams. (razor)
    Hi all,
I had an interesting shave tonight with a Gillette model 100 the serial number on the base plate dates 1904 (pictured).
It’s quite clear by the quality of the shave Gillette still had a way to go to perfect the shave that would make them famous.
I started the shave with a Gillette vintage blade from the same era which I tried to hone with a vintage DE hone design for this job (pictured) adding a bit of water to it and following the instructions.

I gave up on the blade after the third downward stoke when it nicked my cheek causing a good bleeder and quickly change to a Wizamet blade.
It was tugging way to much to give a safe reasonably comfortable shave.
(Either I made the blade worse by attempting to hone it or men were clearly tougher 100 years ago.)
That’s one of the amazing things about using these old razors.
It’s 121 years old ! older than just about any person who has ever lived.
After the blade change the shave was decent enough even though by the second pass I had a bright red trial going down to my jaw line.

Give one a try if you haven’t already they’re still reasonably easy to pick up and not too expensive even if you just pick up the head and base plate and put it into a later handle.

TGS soap worked really well providing good cushioning and aftershave feel as expected from these fine soaps.

Nicely finished off with CK Eternity splash.
And a bit work with the Alum block to seal the nick.

One pass WTG one pass ATG with some touch ups Done.

    One nick No worries.

    Cheers.

Today's shave is a 9/10 as I had a few micro mini cuts that healed right away with all but one being nearly hidden cuts. The issue was due to going on dial 5 after having dial 4 not super great. Today is say 6 on bottom of blade overall blade day 20. I am still using the King C Gillette original era blade when the King C Gillette Safe-T-Shaver came out in 2020.

I used like always my Gillette slim handle H 2 without the case.

I used my concoction of hotel small lotion. I did keep shaver head/blade wet the whole time beause for the most part I only used the shaving cream one time.

The new book I got on July-31, King C. Gillette, the man and his wonderful shaving device https://www.amazon.com/dp/0316009377/?tag=thshde-20, my early era of King C Gillete blade before the company moved to the thinner Chinese models, and my Gillette shaver are proving they are still a great trio for this month. I am still in the beginning of chapter 10 as I did not read the book at all yesterday and only a little bit so far today.

Today's shave was a 10/10 no cuts nothing. I used after realizing I was on dial 1, dial 5 for all but some touch up work on dial 1. It was day 7 and day 21 of ovarall use. Still the same King C Gillette blade as yesterday.

I used as always my H 2 Gillette Adjustable slim handle shaver without a case.

Due to shower before the shave, I shaved without my soap concoction just using water on the shaver head/blade when the blade felt dry.

Excellent shave Chris. Imo, it's using a brush and shave soap that counts as wetshaving regardless of a razor.
