I've been looking for a birth year Gillette. It seems a nice starting point. I'm 1978, so, although not the most sought after, I fancied a twist/knack. I really like the look of them. ( I know, each to their own!). Well I found one, right quarter too, but couldn't agree on a price. I do see these vintage units seem to hold more of price in the uk.

Any way. On my search and research, I came across a 1975 Black Beauty, recently refurbished. Blew my budget apart. But hey. It's not like Christmas is around the corner is it. ??

 

I am patiently waiting on Blades, Lanolin Unscented Menthol Shave Stick, and 2x Iced Barber Shoppe AS. It shipped Today!

I just won an auction on Ebay for four Gillettes. One is an E1 fatboy with a locked up adjuster. I am hoping with a soak in CLR and some elbow grease I can get it working. The others are a Y2 1953 super speed and a D1 + D4 super speeds. All of them supposedly open and close very well the only thing is it was hard to tell how bad the plating was. At $21.50 for all four I really can't go to wrong.

 

Two years ago tried to purchase my first quality badger a Vie Long J. L. Petree 2 band but Phil over at Bullgoose sold out but able to pick one up on another forum. Hope it was worth the 2 year wait.

 

I pulled the trigger on the new Mile High Menthol from Catties Bubbles. It supposedly shipped Mondy, so Let's hope it arrives soon.

Waiting for Santa?

 

I'm waiting on a Cadet TTO, and a few tucks of Ladas, Voskhod, Rapira, and Baili blades. I placed the order almost two weeks ago and still haven't received a shipping notice. Or any other communication for that matter. A follow-up email sent to the vendor 5 days ago has so far not been answered. I'm not impressed with this vendor. But I am still looking forward to trying the Cadet... if it ever arrives.

 

For those of us who have dealt with shaveabuck we know that you must have patience. Especially at this time of year. It is a very small operation. Face it though you can't beat the prices it's well worth the wait.
