What did we learn from our last shaves?

That TOBS sandalwood is causing mild skin irritation. It's taken awhile to figure out but have narrowed it down to the shave cream. Although the product lathers wonderful and I get a really smooth shave, it feels like a sunburn on my cheeks afterwards. A splash of AS really amplified the burn. Kind of bummed as I really like the smell and the performance of it.

I used a Shark ss, first time. started off a little ruff, but it smoothed out nicely. I used it in my Matador elegante. close two pass( anticipating a touch up later) shave.
I learned the shark is pretty good.

Ive learned to rub in a small amount of oil (I use almond) to moisturize my face throughout the day. This way, drying soaps (the ones that use coconut oil) don't affect me.

That for me, the Polsilver SI are worth the premium cost due to the longevity of the blade. Will be adding to den primarily for my travel kit (in process of assembling still) where I get at least a whole week worth of great shaves from 1 blade.

I learned that all the hype about Gillette New's and Long Combs was entirely justified. It could very possibly become my favourite DE. A beautifully smooth shave with an Astra, BBS as usual.

I think it's awesome you are trying to learn. I come back on after a busy couple days and you are straight shaving and about to do a thirty day rule...that'll teach me to stay current on my reading!

that if you rush your shave with a slant your neck will end up looking like you just barely got away from Hannibal Lecter...

Ive learned that Mike's Natural Soap is everything everyone has said it is and some. Today's shave feature Mike's Barber Shop,
Scent- a mix between clubman and canoe. Excellent old school barbershop
Latherabilty- I bloomed my puck while I was showering, using the bloom water with my L'Occitane Plisson I was able to build to pile of lather with ease.
Performance- Mike's soap is one of the slickest soaps I've used, my razor glided over my face. The skincare is amazing! 12+ hours my face is still silky soft.
    Cost- $11.50 for a 5oz tin
Would I buy again? I now have 2 scents, and hope to have them all.

I was reminded today that I can get a great shave using Kiss My Face shave cream. Makes me wonder why I have all those other soaps and creams!

If you like sticks, Mikes makes sticks or you can make one yourself from the bar soap.

I have learned that the New LC is a very efficient razor. With the 34HD or Super Speed I always had to make a 3 pass shave with touch ups. With the New LC it is 2 pass and touch ups. I am really starting to appreciate this razor.

Is this your first experience with OC? That razor was recommended to me quite often as a starting point for OC.
