I just rinse and dry after use, leave blade in the razor. Prior to a new blade (once a week) I'll give a quick scrub with an old toothbrush to clean off the soap film. Keeps them shiny!
For me, a 10 min dunk in barbasol per manufacturer's suggestion. This cleans, lubricates, and disinfects the razor. Whenever I change blades, I'll generally separate the pieces prior to the barbasol bath. Stuff is really cheap; even the name brand barbasol jar is only maybe $20 on Amazon.
My process is similar to WhiskerWhacker. After each use I rinse of the soap off in hot water, wipe off any remaining residue on the cap then dip in 99% alcohol, shake off excess alcohol then air dry on a razor holder. Every two shaves I will remove the blade and wipe off the soap residue. When I finish using a razor in a rotation I clean as above then drop into barbasol for 10 minutes then take a soft toothbrush to it then dip in barbasol again as a final rinse then wipe it down with micro fiber.
I take blade out, rinse in hot water pat dry on towel, put it on top of its wrapper in cabinet, never leave it in razor. I clean my razor gently with toothbrush, polish it off and put it together.
Razors get broke down and wiped clean after each use. Once a month cleaned with old tooth brush and dawn dish soap dried and gun oil or WD40 where needed. Sounds like a lot of fuss but old habits.............
Disassemble, hot water rinse, towel dry and assemble... Once a month a alcohol rub using methylated spirits
I rinse with water soak head in 93% alcohol for a few mins and take apart (all my razors are 3 piece stainless steel and I use stainless steel blades) once every two weeks I soap razor in a bowl of bar keepers stainless steel solution mixed with water over night and the next day it looks brand new. I don't know if this would work for nickel plated razors
I remove the blade, set it aside, and towel-dry the razor and pat down the blade. The blade is only in the razor when I shave. This has been shown to increase blade life and reduce corrosion of the razor itself.
I set my razor aside in the most sanitary way possible. The following day, I make sure to look askance at the razor prior to using it. I have been known to wave a towel in the general direction of my shaving gear no less than every other week.
The blade gets changed every 2-4 days so I don't remove it after every shave. I rinse the razor with very hot water after each shave. The heat dries it quickly. I clean my black powder revolver the same way and it dries from the heat completely. I don't understand all the worry about corrosion on a replaceable stainless blade that gets used less then a week.
I found the best way to use Williams tonight. Scrubbed my cleaning brush on it and then the Williams done a bang up job cleaning the proraso off my razor!!!
But my wife disallows Scrubbing Bubbles, saying it's harmful stuff to humans and pets alike. I must keep my supply in the garage, and dispose of it DOWN THE TOILET, and not the sink. She will not allow me to use it on the shower floor or, presumably, the area where the toilet meets the floor. After reading that Wiki, I just may sneak the stuff into my bathroom tomorrow while she is out to give it a try. Then I'll spray Febreeze to disguise any scent the Scrubbing Bubbles might leave.

I gotta ask - all of you who insist on sterilizing your razor and blade after every use, what do you do with your toothbrush after every use?
I like to put mine in an autoclave, then bombard it with gamma radiation, and finally let it completely dissolve in an acid bath. And you all wondered why I bought so many razors last year.
My '62 Slim was in very good condition when found: no brassing; paint intact; just a slight hitch in the mechanism and in need of a little cleaning and polishing. I polished with Gun-Brite and lubed with Rem-Oil. Anybody see a problem with using the gun products?
