How to sell a razor collection?

Put yourself into a scenario where you want to sell off the vast majority of your razor collection.
In total about 100 razors - some of them common and some of them rather rare.

With expected prices from $5 to several hundred per razor you do want to be able to get as much as you can for them as you do have somewhat of a plan for the money they will generate.

Taking the rather large amount of them (each razor needing pretty photos and a short write-up) into consideration how would you go about selling them off?

Online Auctions
* Online auction a la eBay/Bonanza - one auction per razor
* Online auction a la eBay/Bonanza - small groups of razors (3-4 in each 'lot')

Forum
* Forum listing (TSD & TSR) listing every razor for sale with a swag at a price at each razor
* Forum listing (TSD & TSR) listing

Combo
* Forum listings of the 30-40% of the more common razors where prices are pretty well known
* Online auctions for the remaining 60% or so where prices are either pretty unknown or fluctuates a lot

 

I would go with the Combo method myself. In fact I would start with the Forum listing while I was putting together all the info for the auction listing.

 

Combo.
I'm going to want to auction the rare and desireable collectibles. That way I maximize my ROI. I also benefit from emotion in a possible bidding war.


Except for that Tradere...sell that to me.

Why don't you offer the razors for sale simultaneously on the various wetshaving forums and eBay? Make the forum price the same as the Buy It Now price on eBay. Once a razor sells, simply mark all the listings as "Sold". Or if you have the time, you could just list the razors one at a time here or on the Bay until they are all sold. My guess is that you will get a higher price on eBay due to the bidding frenzy that often occurs. You will likely have a better chance of smooth transactions here, though.
